Sanguinius vs Ka´Bandha - Sanguinius- The Leopard Pelt

here we are with another puzzle piece of our Sanguinius project: the Leopard Pelt.
Sanguinus is often depicted in his gold armor wrapped with the fur of a white snow leopard around his shoulders.
We are going for the same look, but we are staying a bit darker so it separates nicely from the warm white feathers of the wings.
We are using the warm yellowish medium flesh tone to create a dark and warm grey tone.
When you paint a natural element like the pelt of an animal or the hide of a monster it is important to add areas of different colored skin/fur to create an organic and realistic feel.
We are paying attention to that and adding lighter fur around the snout and the eyes. We are also adding the darker framing around the eyes and the glossy-looking black nose.
If you feel unsure of what to do go out and check some references, you will be amazed to see how diverse and colorful Nature is.
When you look at leopard fur for example it is quite surprising how it is somewhat symmetrical it is.
