Sanguinius vs Ka´Bandha - Painting Ka´Bandha´s wings

Hey Folks,

this is the last puzzle piece that is still missing to call our demon Ka´Bandha done! Today we are painting the wings!

The last video of this month deals with how to paint the giant membrane wings of the demon Ka´Bandha.

As you all know I had to paint this project under quite some time pressure! And if you follow my work for a while, you might know I have a love-hate relationship with wings - They can add a lot to the dynamic of a model and for sure adds a huge imposing moment, but it´s also quite often a super repetitive task. You are repeating the same colors four times, over and over again. The nice thing about our sculpt is that the wings are quite different from each other and offer an interesting position

where the membranes catch the light quite differently.

There are many different ways how you could tackle a large open, yet textured surface like ours. As we want to have a look that works well with the defined look of the scales, we had to make the pain-staking(or time-consuming) decision to go with individually painted-on highlights.

To save plenty of time we are working the hell out of our contrast paints!

I was undecided about what color I wanted to go with for the membranes of the wings. In the end, I picked up the cyan/teal colors from the stained glass window (Thanks to Benjamin Kantor for the push in the right direction ;) ) This helps to harmonize the whole scene.

Alright!! Next month it´s time to discover Sanguinus in all his golden glory!

Thanks for your support and have fun watching!
