A sign of life after the Adepticon!

Hi Folks,

Sorry that it took so long to post a sign of life after the Adepticon!

Sadly I not only brought home a silver demon for my Sanguinius vs Ka`bandha duell, but also a Covid infection – the new Adepti-cron strain.

I was lucky and it was a relatively mild case, but it knocked me off my feet for 4 days.

I slept for almost the entire time! And now on day 11 I finally tested negative again.

As most of you know I have spent the last two years like a miniature painting hermit... there have been no shows, and the only workshop it did was 1,5 years ago at the Figostock in France.

So I knew, going to a huge show like the past Adepticon, (with no mask mandate because of the good covid numbers in Illinois) would bear the risk of catching it. I tried to mask up when it's crowded or when I walk around and check my students' work in my classes, I am also triple vaxxed, but I still caught it. So be careful when you go out and see your long-time missed geek family.

As an overall resume of the Adepticon, with the Golden Demon, the classes and all the fantastic people was unbelievably energy-boosting experience, and I do not regret going at all.

You know... sometimes it can be a little hard to work like I do... I focus most of my time and try my very best to create good miniature painting videos for you guys, and create stunning figures, but Patreon is a very quiet platform ... so you sometimes float around, not knowing if the stuff you produce is still fascinating enough...

Before covid, I went to a lot of shows each year, I would say an average of 4-5 shows per year.

On every show, you can feel how much miniatures in general but also my very own creations mean to a looooot of people.

You can feel the passion for tiny little painted miniatures filling giant halls, and it is truly a wonderful thing to see!

You get real-life feedback on what you have created.

You see other people's amazing creations, and more important you get to know the person behind the paint job.

It shows that miniature painting is a very personal thing, that brings together people from all over the world and every part of society. The diversity of styles- is something fantastic- it reflects the diversity of our community.

I want to talk a little more about that regarding the Golden Demon results, but I will do that in a later post!

It was great to meet many of you at the Adepticon!

I love to see the sparkle in the eyes of people who stare at miniatures!! For me this is more rewarding than anything else could be.

I want to take this moment to that all of you for your support, you enable me to create what I love!

I also want to thank some people in particular:

My good friend Matt Cexwish, who always helps to reflect on ideas and give honest feedback. He also helped me to laser-cut the small icons for the base and to print the window templates.
He is the BEST travel companion a man could ask for! (Bathroom painting for the win :D)

And my other best miniature friend, the sculptor Mati Zander, he helped me with the transformation of the demon Ka´Bandha, I was afraid to ruin the last bits of the conversion like changing the neck and closing the hands around the Axe and he spend a precious day helping me.

And the whole project would also not have been possible without the support of my amazing wife, Kristin!

A project like this one is really creeping into every corner of your life. It´s with you on the breakfast table and it's on your phone screen before you fall asleep. It's super invasive- I painted an average of 14 hours a day painting for the last 3 weeks. Not talking of the endless hours of building and sculpting before.

It's great to have that freedom and it's not something that you cant take for granted... Also Pelle the pug was terribly neglected (but this has been compensated the last week it seems ;)  )

Also I would like to thank, Chris Schmidt and his buddy Ivan, it was fantastic to meet you irl and catch up a bit!

It was also great to meet again with Frank Behrens and Alexa Miano , hopefully we have a bit more time together when we meet on the next show!

Now that I am back on track I will make sure to edit the videos of our Sanguinius vs Ka`Bandha duell!

See you soon !

Welcome back! Now that we've all recovered, we can go back to the painting desk and prepare for the next show. I had such a good time hanging out with you! The amount of knowledge and tricks and tips that you hold are simply amazing. Not only does it motivate me to paint more and try new things. It also makes the whole experience an absolute blast! Who needs trophies when you can hang out with people like you? The next projects are started, I see you soon jn Europe. We ll celebrate in Hazard suits... 😆 Cheer Chris
