Sanguinius Vs Ka'Bandha - How to build the base

Hey Folks,

here is the video on how I have built the base for our Sanguinius vs. Ka´bandha duell.

We are fusing together all the elements that we have prepared before:

the cathedral-window-backdrop, the ruins from the dragonith kit, our self-made steel enforced concrete, some self-made tiles etc.

The PVC pipe allows us to manipulate the edge of the base on the go,

We can refine it until we are happy with the definition of the edge and change it the more we develop the scene.

We are starting with a rough cut out of the pipe that is designed to support the cathedral window backdrop and hold it in position.

We are first adding larger volumes with cork and plenty of superglue.

After defining the different height levels we are adding our concrete and the tiles.  We are detailing out the different clusters.

the demon side

the sanguinius side

the backdrop

and the inside of the cathedral

I really work quite mad on the front, using super glue on wet milliput and such. This really helped to create a very chaotic front, the deep, collapsed ruins of the cathedral. The inside of the cathedral was constructed more controlled and clean.

In this video, you will also see how I have added plenty of extra detailing to the inside of our building.

When thinking of the base I did not think too much of the back of the backdrop... but as the judges and the staff of gw will most probably see the piece the first time from the back through the doors of the glass cabinets. This is why it is important, both the level of the detailing of the model but also the level of refinement of the paint job.

So the golden demon is coming up faster and faster.

The base is done, the demon is painted up to 80%

and Sanguinius is still resting in his box.

It will be though :D but believe it of not I am just 2 days behind the mad schedule of painting the whole thing in 3 weeks.. 7 days for the base, 7 days for the demon, and 7 days for Sanguinius.

I will keep you updated!

I hope you enjoy this video and that you are on a good way with your own projects, I hope to see many of you at the Adepticon!

Thanks for your support!!
