the competitions painter´s handbook - part 1

Hi Folks,

here is the first file of the competitions painter´s handbook.

In part one of the handbook, we are getting a little introduction to what it takes to create a stunning contest entry. We will also speak about the motivations of competing in a miniature painting contest, the different contest types, and of course the choice of the model.

The idea of the handbook is that it will be more of a collection of useful tips and insights on what I have learned in competing in painting contests for almost two decades, rather than a typical WIP-Guide.

I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for your support!

hahahah.. no .. It was all due to the base size! I prepared something for 40K single and used a 40k terminator round base that I have opend to one side filled it with small stones and glued it to the plinth. When you entered you model the placed it on paper templates to see if it fits the base size definitions in each cat. And as I glued the model to the wood plinth they meassured that! We had loadds of discussions.. and they wanted to disqualify me but in the end they moved it to the "citys of death category" which was a special category that was made this year for some new 40 k terrain boxes, and it was basically a gaming table category... with my single model standing between a few very lage gaming tables :D

Great read! Looking forward to the next episode. Speaking of, I just attended the Dogma48, a painting challenge all about deadlines. 😁
