How to choose a model for the Golden Demon!

Hey Folks,

ready for something a little different?!

All of the videos here on the channel are more or less projects straight out of the box.

As I want to keep the projects as recreatable as possible for you guys out there, we are talking about the various colors, materials, and the interpretation of a model. But we are rarely working on one-of-a-kind projects. Maybe the rattling tank was already breaching out a bit further...

I think there are always loads of aspects to consider when you paint a model. There is the HOW and the WHY.

The "how"  is about how the actual paint is applied to create a certain effect, a certain way of blending, etc.

As a miniature painter, especially in a contest situation, we need to develop a solid technical level, in order to be able to tell a story and let people indulge in your project.

If your model is not well painted, people tend to not even bother to look at it any longer, so they will miss whatever you wanted to show.

This is the main reason the focus in most of my videos is on the "how".

The striving for technical perfection (and also the ability to forget about it-  aka "fuck smoothness") is something that will always follow you throughout your painter's life.

But there is also the "why":

Why are you choosing which model, what is the story that you want to tell, what´s the best way to transport your idea. What background ideas lead the composition of a piece?

Sometimes questions like that have fallen a bit short and I want to take the upcoming project for the Golden Demon at the Adepticon to talk more about the ideas behind a more complex project.

Together we will be creating a entrie for the duell category:

the eternal struggle between good and evil or

Sanguinius vs. Ka´Bandha

This is a project that might not be able to recreate 1:1 but I am sure it will give you a great insight on how to come up with a competition piece that you love, and that pushes you further.

I have a few pieces that I am taking to the GoldenDemon/Adepticon, that might be familiar to you.

I thought about taking the ratling tank for sure, Katakros, or maybe even the good old magic turkey aka the Lord of Change (even if he is already a few years old I still love him) all documented in-depth here at Patreon.

Corona makes the time a bit foggy and even the ratling tank is now already almost two years old and I want to take the golden demon as an opportunity to create a new even larger piece.

In this first video, we will talk about how to choose a model for the golden demon!

I really hope you will enjoy this new series leading up in almost real-time to the golden demon, so we can discover together how a project like this evolves!

Alright, I hope you have fun with the new project! And I hope to see as many of you at the Adepticon as possible. (Fingers crossed because of covid) If you are working on a project for the golden demon yourself, I would be happy if you share it with me or even our little circle in here!

Thank you for your support!

Are you at all concerned that the new vibe you are going for might be spoilt because the judges can see your piece developing here instead of just being awed by it in the competition?
