Erynis- chapter 1- painting the head

I am very excited to share with you today the very first video episode of the in-depth tutorial series dedicated to Erynis.
Erynis is a stretch goal bust for a Kickstarter campaign that is currently running, and I had the honor to paint her as a boxart.
My friend Matt Cexwish was responsible for creating the background world and the character stories.

The campaign offers a complex world filled with unique characters with a dense background story.
The background story together with the concept art will be our inspiration guideline through the painting process
The bust is very rich in details, materials, and textures.
But even the most complex paint job starts with the first couple of brushstrokes...
today we will explore together the head of Erynis, including the undead skin, ghostly glowing eyes.
