APRIL 2025 Update #2 - "ugh"

Hey Patrons,

Woof, do I have a bad update for today.

So I’m in a few discord groups for artist alley related things, and I’m seeing first-hand accounts of the tariffs already taking effect. Not just price increases, but people are getting hit with large fees pre or post delivery for stuff printed/shipped from overseas.

At the time I started writing this, the tariffs for products ordered from China were around 50%, then 117% the next day, and today it's 125% (!!!) Imagine a restock order of charms and standees costing about $1000. Now that order could cost me $2300+. With fees from different places and interruptions in the shipping schedules.

This is not sustainable.

I think for now, for the online sale I was planning for May- I’m gonna have to cancel restocks for Acrylic items like charms and standees. I want to try and restock for Anime Expo (+ Anime NYC) but I’m not even sure if that’s possible yet. So I wanna hold onto the inventory I have left over right now… I’ll have some things available at the Game Realms event in Burbank this weekend if anyone is going to that. For the Fall/Halloween sale, I don’t know yet. Hopefully something will have been resolved by then.

As for Cards and Stickers, I also don’t know. I placed this month’s orders and I’m gonna see what I get hit with. I may need to make adjustments. I may have to switch to the backup card supplier (even though I don’t like the colors). I may need to subtract an item per month moving forward. I really just don’t know yet. I won’t make any changes without letting people know in advance.

For the upcoming art book, I’m planning to use Mixam, which I think mainly prints in USA locations. But even then, there are gonna be price increases. Same goes for Posters, which I get from a small business in upstate New York. I just received an email saying their prices are gonna have to increase due to their printing supplies costing significantly more.

If the May sale still happens, it will likely just be for small items like Cards and Stickers. Maybe I could try and mix it up with stickers sheets or postcard prints, for some variety.
