The Lord of Ghosts Chapter 4 Sketch pages

Flowerhead's base of operations is a bait and switch, this scary edgy flowerboy lead our heroes into a dark creaky house and we find that he's got grandma furniture everywhere and a trio of small cute companions. I'n' that nice?

The furniture in here is actually partially based on my own grandparents house, that wooden table is something i've seen time and time again as i visited. There's something really comforting about it.

This chapter begins the exposition in earnest, i've never really tried telling a story with lore before, so i wasn't sure how difficult it would be to disseminate nessecary information without things becoming boring. I think the moments of levity helped it through, Ghost and Hippo flop-flopping on whether to trust Flowerhead based on surface level details was particularly good, i thought.

There's a challenge that comes with getting characters to cooperate naturally, you know what they would say based on what thier personalities suggest, but you also want to nudge them in a specific direction. If i let things play out how they might realistically do so then they might never team up. But making the bond  believable is paramount to the audiences interest in the characters. If the characters seem to just do and say whatever the plot requires of them then why should the audience care about anything that's being done or said?

I'm still learning how to do all this, i feel like i've done alright here, but there's definitely room for improvement. Hippo and his feud with Flowerhead could have been set up better, i knew an altercation happened where hippo lost his gem because i needed a way to explain how Flowerhead had both gems because i needed to explain how Ghost had both gems.

And i know hippo had one of the gems because of that shitty videogame i made which i don't even know if anyone even remembers or cares about?

Why do i strive for absolute continuity in everything? It really doesn't matter at all and it makes everything a whole lot harder to write.

(i suppose Hippo's and Flowerheads gems could have been stolen seperately now that i think about it, damn that would have been so much easier.)
