Chapter 52: Because You Did Nothing to Save Rin

Chapter 52: Because You Did Nothing to Save Rin!

"Okay!"

Uchiha Obito gritted his teeth in anger. Now that Kakashi was in Uchiha Yi's hands, even with his powerful space-time abilities, he couldn't rescue Kakashi from such close proximity.

Moreover, he had just tested it; the Kamui didn't seem to have any real effect on the opponent.

He couldn't understand how Yi managed to do it. Additionally, he had to maintain the persona of Tobi and take into account Yi's demonstrated strength, which was not weak but quite formidable.

All these factors forced him to make a compromise.

It seemed necessary to reassess Yi as an individual.

While Uchiha Obito was contemplating, he quickly obtained the item for the trade.

Reluctantly handing it over to Uchiha Yi, Obito felt as though his heart was bleeding.

"Ha ha ha ha!"

"Thanks for this, my good brother Tobi!"

Once he had the item, Uchiha Yi laughed boisterously as if possessed by Blackbeard, tossing a technique that landed among a hundred corpses of White Zetsu.

"So fun!"

"Only things like this are fun to burn!"

"Hey, Tobi, my good brother, do you have more of this White Zetsu stuff? Give me more! A hundred is just not enough to burn!"

Observing Yi babble like a madman, at first Obito thought Yi had uncovered the secret of White Zetsu and hence was asking for more.

Now seeing this, Obito realized all his worries were unnecessary because Yi seemed a bit off in his head.

What normal person uses Amaterasu to burn White Zetsu for fun?

"No more, don't even think about it!"

Uchiha Obito shook his head vigorously, outright denying any further requests from Yi, stating firmly.

"Really?"

"That's too bad!"

"Remember to tell me if you get more in the future!"

Uchiha Yi looked regretful as he spoke, having got what he came for, there was no need to stay any longer as a third wheel.

Watching Uchiha Yi finally leave, Obito breathed a huge sigh of relief. Yi was really too taxing to deal with. Despite the extreme measures Yi took against him, he found himself unable to retaliate.

Is there no justice in this world?

It left Uchiha Obito constantly feeling frustrated, wanting to find a way to get back at him. For now, he would set aside his feud with Yi.

Turning his attention to Kakashi, who now sported a bizarre bald look unlike anything Obito had ever seen. At first glance, Obito nearly burst into laughter.

Luckily, he composed himself at the crucial moment, otherwise, he would have given himself away.

"Kak..."

Just as Obito was about to speak to Kakashi, Kakashi cut him off. The following words made Obito's heart race uncontrollably.

"Obito, it's you, isn't it?"

Kakashi asked solemnly, yet with certainty in his tone.

"What?"

"You..."

An unexpected dialogue that Obito never anticipated completely broke his defenses. What he valued most was maintaining his persona as Tobi in front of Kakashi, not as Obito.

Now Kakashi had directly exposed his identity?

Stunned, Uchiha Obito trembled and found himself unable to speak.

"It is you!"

"Seeing how you made excuses just now, you're still the same old fool. I recognized you immediately!"

Ignoring Obito's reaction, Kakashi continued.

"Obito, since you're still alive, why have you waited until now..."

With this accusation, Obito silently lowered his head, then slowly removed the mask from his face, revealing his shattered visage.

No longer frivolous, he became very somber and calm.

"Whether I'm alive or not doesn't matter to you!"

"If I must give a reason..."

"It's because you did nothing to save Rin!"

"I've lost all interest in this world!"

"And I have nothing to say to you!"

"Just like that!"

Exposed and unprepared, Ubito had often wondered how he might face Kakashi.

At this moment, his emotions were more composed than he had imagined.

After saying these words, he no longer wished to communicate with Kakashi, activated his Kamui, and left without a second's delay.

Watching Obito disappear, Kakashi stood bewildered.

After all the effort to find him, he still hadn't gotten the answers he expected, only more confusion.

What was Obito really trying to achieve?

From this close encounter, Kakashi could sense the aura of darkness that Obito was emitting, an outright rejection of light.

Kakashi was eager to understand what had happened to Obito.

But with Obito's refusal to communicate, Kakashi was powerless.

"Sigh!"

"For now, let it be."

Resigned, Kakashi understood that if Obito deliberately avoided him, he would never be able to locate him.

At least he was now sure Obito was still alive, which allowed him to let go of some of the burden he had been carrying.

Despite signs that Obito was deeply entrenched in darkness, Kakashi resolved to pull him back no matter what.

With that decision made, Kakashi didn't plan to stay in the Land of Water any longer.

Although he had spent a lot of time in prison, he had gathered substantial information, enough to fulfill his mission upon returning.

"It's a shame!"

"Obito didn't even have a fallout with Kakashi!"

"That's so uncharacteristic! Must be an imposter."

After Obito left, Uchiha Yi quickly sent the item he had traded to his real body and then secretly returned to watch the exchange between Obito and Kakashi, hoping to see how Obito would handle it.

However, Obito's unexpectedly calm demeanor puzzled Yi, making him suspect it wasn't really Obito.

Obito had barely spoken a few words before he left, leaving Yi speechless.

Meanwhile, after a deadly struggle, the elder managed to lure the Three Tails into the sealing array and with the entire village's effort, they successfully re-sealed the beast within its host.

This ordeal left the Hidden Mist Village severely depopulated, regressing to its foundational era.

With the village in ruins, the survivors were uncertain whether to feel joy or sorrow, shedding tears of complex emotions.

Even so, the matter wasn't fully resolved yet.

Kizukami Roku, believing he had led the village to victory, felt he rightfully should become the Fifth Mizukage.

The elder's faction naturally refused to acknowledge this claim.

As a result, the two remaining factions clashed once again.

Ultimately, the elder's faction emerged as the bitter victors, marking an end to the prolonged strife.
