Movie was ok, too slow paced at times though, definitely not a 5 so don’t know why ppl are so upset about that lol. But oak was spot on, left and right, it’s all the same, we have a left wing government here in the uk right now, one I voted for, and they are arresting people for making social media posts. A comedian called Graham linehan, got arrested for making a joke on social media lol. They are also forcing digital ID onto us which nobody wants but they said they don’t care and that we will have to get it. So It’s all the same, left and right, both work to serve themselves, different sides same shit, both as terrible as the other, something Ive come to realise!

2025-11-07 15:41:01 +0000 UTCAbsolutely masterpiece of a film. In my opinion, as someone who has read and is a big admirer of the graphic novel by the great Alan Moore, I prefer the movie. Really hard as an actor and director to convey emotions and make the audience empathise with the character without once showing his face. Hugo Weaving conveyed so much emotion with just his soothing, haunting, commanding and at times, loving voice. Portman as always was great, as were others, especially the ever dashing Stephen Rea.

It is terrible how systems (call them what you like) create situations to make you dependent on them and it kind of choked me up at the end when she activated the train because for some reason it made me think of Jesus. I'm christian but for some reason I don't usually connect movies or tv shows to messages or anything, I have friends that are good at that and connect things very fast but I'm not like that, and it just made me cry. To add to the news of other countries, it hit hard as well because my country (Venezuela) has tried to get rid off this government that has been in power for over 26 years and watching this people walk peacefully and the military doing nothing at the end made me emotional as well because that has happened here, the downside is that the military has killed a lot of people and it's just terrible, there are no words for it. Amazing movie guys, amazing reaction and incredible review!! I'm here patiently waiting for The proposal lol

All it is is a shit storm of people arguing and there's never going to be any peace regarding it. One side will be vocal as always and the other side just won't care, but the moment a dissenting opinion is spoken you'll see all of the trolls crawl out of the woodwork to silence speech they disagree with. During the interrogation/torture of Evey,twice when V comes into her cell you can vaugely see his face,its easier to notice if you know its Hugo going into it,just the way the brain works.But through the shadow and darkness,you can make out the outline and structure of his face. Just a cool detail for those paying attention. Also when Evey is taken by V,you can barely see the burns on his face through the mask around his eyes. The scene is a only a few frames so its hard to even pause on it,but you can see it vaguely.

Saw it in the theaters and it totally spoke to what was going on at the time in our world, and funny enough, it does make a lot of sense even 20 years later huh? :). And yes, we should DEFINITELY watch The Count of Monte Cristo.. the 2002 version with Jim Caviezel! I think you'll dig it. :).

Hundreds of billions of dollars are spent on the NHS every year while foreign aid investment makes up less than half of one percent of the national income. Even besides that, its ridiculous to believe that you apparently cannot spend money on multiple different things by saying money is spent on foreign aid INSTEAD of healthcare. If thats the case then money is spent on the military INSTEAD of healthcare and money is spent on infrastructure INSTEAD of healthcare and money is spent on education INSTEAD of healthcare. Also funny that you can somehow blame "left governments" while being from the UK where there has been conservative after conservative led government for the past 20 years.

I actually get him. I rate movies based on how good they are imo (direction, cinematoraphy, acting, story ...) but also how they compare to other movies that I've watched, in general but also with other movies from the same category. I might give a better score to an animation because it's easier, according to me, to hit the right notes compared to a drama for example.

Bezos is censoring the Washington Post, the White House tells constant lies, and our checks and balances are falling like V's dominos. I was 12 yo when I saw the tv promos for this & I thought it was going to be an action packed superhero movie 🤣. I annoyed my mom all week to go see it in theaters (she immediately regretted it for the first scene alone 😳) , and I was just there, sitting in my seat utterly bored 🥱. Didn’t appreciate it back then, obviously & was so over this movie that I haven’t rewatched it until today. Wow, was I wrong! 😅 The themes, the ideas it makes the viewer consider throughout and after the film is over. I was shocked. Brilliant film!Can’t believe I’ve been avoiding this gem for 20 years now 😖. I just wanted to thank this community for pushing this film, bc I honestly wouldn’t have ever gone back to it. Thank You! & Thank You, you wonderful gents for this 20 yr. rewatch 🫡

Prior, the only thing I knew was the line "remember, remember, the 5th of November," and Guy Fawkes' attempt to blow up parliament. That's all I remembered from the very brief lesson on it during U.S. history (when we start with British history first) in like 6th/7th grade. As for the mask, I only knew of it representing the hacker group Anonymous. My mind was blown after seeing this movie and being able to put everything together. Such a relevant movie to the awful times we now live in. Hugo Weaving did an excellent job and his "V" speech is a masterpiece! I know James Purefoy was originally cast, and as good as he is, I think Hugo was the perfect choice! Also, I'm glad Constantine is on your list, another amazing movie! I still remember seeing it in theaters.
