Even though the movie is a mixed bag for me I'm happy you guys enjoyed it so much 😊 Also this reaction is great, once you post this and the YJHD on Youtube I think you can expect a lot more Indian subscribers! Since you've pretty much become Ranbir stans you should consider reacting to TAMASHA (romance/coming of age), SANJU (the Sanjay Dutt biopic, since you know Sanjay you're ready for it... or maybe you could watch Sanjay's iconic comedy Munnabhai MBBS beforehand), and WAKE UP SID (coming of age, same director as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani). Just a pronunciation thing, the "hai" in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is said almost like english "hey" 😊

2025-02-08 21:49:34 +0000 UTCI personally think the protagonist in this movie is extremely misogynistic. I agree that the writing needed work and I definitely wouldn’t have recommended this for their next Bollywood movie or Ranbir Kapoor film. Barfi on Netflix would’ve been my recommendation!

IMO the writing needed betterment, some parts are kind of silly, so personally I wouldn't have recommended this movie to them, but I totally disagree that it's a misogynistic movie. Regardless of SRV's opinions in real life, I feel like he wrote grounded, sensible female characters. You can debate whether his *protagonist* is misogynistic (which is not the same as saying the movie is), but honestly I don't see it.

Contrary to what a lot of critics said I don't think it's a misogynistic movie at all though, I think people were projecting because of who the filmmaker is and stuff he said in older interviews, so since you are completely unaware of it and neutral it will be interesting to see how you perceived it!!
