Next up, lilo and stitch

Tate Elkins

It's Treasure Island and I love this movie

June

Piglet's Big Adventure would like to have a talk

Violet

Let's be real. Treasure Planet is underrated because Ice Age, Lilo and Stitch, and the Hey Arnold Movie came out the same year. This movie has less rewatch factor than those imo. It's more of a niche film. Satisfied my anime craving because I watched Outlaw Star, Gundam, and other sci-fi anime around that time Edit: The Scooby Doo Movie, Like Mike, and Spy Kids 2 came out in 2002 too! We were living it up lol

Violet

Amazing movie, people don't appreciate good things until they're gone. Not surprised Mason didn't touch upon the father and son dynamic between our main character and villain, can always rely on oak

paeka

I didn't even think anyone else remembered Pagemaster!

Marco Gutierrez

So upon a little detective work it is a fact that the goo goo dolls were indeed categorized as alternative rock, therefore Answer and Mason were indeed correct lol

I'm Batman

great catch with the Goo Goo Dolls! You guys should do Atlantis next , equally underrated disney movie

fares

It is the lead singer of Goo Goo Dolls who sings the song in the movie. I think it's one of the most underrated songs in Disney animation.

Sarah

From 1999 to 2008, Disney experimented with new things in its animated films, using CGI technology, new stories, and different settings. Treasure Planet was part of that Era of experimentation along with other great movies like Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove, Brother Bear, Lilo and Stitch, and many more. Sadly many of the films at this time were not heavily advertised like their predecessors, but managed to amass a great fan following during the years. These very wonderful films are all worth watching at least once.

Skylł2D

“They’re in the game now” 😂 iykyk

Steven Warner

I really enjoyed watching this one with you guys. I turned 27 yesterday and am super sick right now so I couldn’t really celebrate with anyone- and honestly, celebrating by watching this with y’all was pretty good!!! Thanks for all you do. Means a lot.

hails

I love introducing friends and family to this film, it’s just a fantastic feel good movie. I love the mix of animations, the adaption of the original novel, the characters and the music that gets me all in my feels. So much fun watching this for the millionth time with your guys first watch

Janey

One of my faves along with Atlantis in the early 2000s❤️

Ashley H.N

FRIIIIIICK YESSSSS SSSS CANT WAIT TO WATCH THIS RN

Michelle Kaiser

I have never been more excited for a reaction. Can't wait to dive in and watch!

Cinderkit5

I recommend An American Tail (1986) and The Pagemaster (1994).

SailorChristy91

Fine feathered friends and foes 🫡

Steven Warner

I think Mason Quinn mistook mushrooms with octopuses. There's a theory out there that suggests that octopuses come from outer space. But I believe it has already been proven false.

Presence Unknown

Now you guys have to watch “Muppet Treasure Island” with the amazing Tim Curry. Similar story, but with a muppet twist.

Lauren

Bob!

I second everyone else's suggestions for Atlantis and Titan A.E. I think that they all sort of scratch a similar itch and are similar in design and style. I saw this movie all the time as a kid and it's still my favorite Disney movie to this day. As a kid that grew up with a deadbeat father that was never around, I related a lot to Jim and I used to wish that someone like Silver would show up and just give me some of that encouragement that I always wanted. They really hit all of those beats of the damage that not having a father around can do to a kid. Also you guys aren't wrong in terms of the animation. This one was sort of the full completion of Disney's experimentation in fusing 2d and 3d animation. For another example, you can look at Tarzan which I think is actually the movie that started all of this. They did it for the tree sliding scenes, and you see a similar use here where anytime that high paced flying is being done, the environment is fully 3d while the characters are 2d animated. This is a simplistic explanation for how they did what they did, but it gets the idea across. Honestly a lot of the failure of this movie has to do with Disney themselves sabotaging it.

Marco Gutierrez

One of my favorite childhood movies! I recommend Monsters VS Aliens 2009, Quest For Camelot 1998, and Dante's Peak (this isn't an animated movie, but still good)

Emilysr97

It was in fact one of the movies that Bob Iger bombed. He has done it to quite a few films over the years, and it enrages me everytime I think of it. I was incredibly sad when Disney brought him back on recently. 🤬

LaLa

Some extra context: Treasure Planet was purely a passion project by the directors, and they actually only produced Hercules on the condition that they be allowed to make Treasure Planet afterwards. The story goes that Disney wanted to switch entirely to 3D, and so they pushed Treasure Planet’s release back several months so that it coincided with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’ release, and marketing for the movie was almost nonexistent. I don’t think it’s confirmed, but most people believe that Disney deliberately bombed this movie so they could use it as justification for shutting down their 2D animation studio, robbing us of the sequel we were supposed to get. Intentionally or not, this movie was done incredibly dirty.

SD

Yesss! This was my favorite movie as a kid!

Tess Duwel

Right!!!!??? I want several books like that please!!

Alexiani Gollarza

This is one of my favorites as a kid. I was right there with Answer crying at the end. I remember Mr. Arrow dying made me be SO ANGRY when I was little. Anyways, this is an amazing movie and it makes me happy that at least you enjoyed it. This is one you appreciate with time. Like Mason said, this one made the line after some years. Either way, perfect movie, who didn't play with friends of family and pretended to be on an adventure? Thanks for te watch guys!

Alexiani Gollarza

I'd love to see them do Princess and the Frog! 😭

Katie Madsen

About what you guys said about the Goo Goo Dolls genre of Rock on wikipedia it has it as Alt Punk Pop and Grunge Rock so take your pick

Anthony Velasquez

Why do they keep watching these Disney movies on Prime? Diamond Dave, get the kids in line 🤣

Alanna Meyers 🍌

We made it lads, Treasure Planet gang rejoice!

SD

Really love this movie! Had it on a VHS. But as a kid I was very upset about Mr. Arrow. Something about helplessly flying into the space abyss was very terrifying for me. So watch out there, Oak.

Artem Dmytrenko

YESSSS, so good

Alanna Meyers 🍌

Gonna watch this with my dinner tonight ☺️

Alanna Meyers 🍌

Perfect timing fellas 🙏👍

Crispin

I of course have to recommend you also watch Atlantis: The lost empire

Ida L

The Princess and the Frog (2009) and Winnie the Pooh (2011) was Disney's last 2 hand drawn movies

Josh B.

My favorite movie as a kid!! It’s so underrated still to this day.

Enya Stewart

I was not expecting this. This was my favorite Disney movie growing up, this and Atlantis.

Belzeref

I’ve actually NEVER seen “Treasure Planet”! Excited to watch it with you all! Shoutout to the Goo Goo Dolls though LOL!

Kaley

Steamboy would be outstanding on here ha

Cojuancidence

I’d like to note this is the only Disney movie I know of where the parents are both alive but one of them stepped out and walked away. Most either they’re both alive and still in their lives or one or both of them die. It was refreshing. At least off the top of my head this is the only Disney movie I know of where it was done this way with the parents. Also how cool would it be if our books had projections like theirs?!

Elizabeth Green

oh' the little guy 😆

Redbone

Disneys most underrated film and it’s not even close 🙌 looking forward to getting stuck into this one with you boys

Sam Hackett

Oh wow one of my childhood favourites! This and Atlantis 😭😍

Daniel girvan

This is my version of Treasure Island in film form. It's also my favorite steampunk adaptation of a classic!

Corinne Smith

JUST ALMOST HAD A FUCKING SEIZURE SEEING THIS WHILE LOOKING AT MY NOTIFICATIONS. LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Ida L

I’ve been dying for this reaction thank you Badd Medicine! ♥️ 💊

Elizabeth Green

AyaaChann

Same 😂 I just left work so I can't wait to get home and settle down for this tonight.

Natacha Pedersen

🎉👀👍Love this adaptation! Hope you check out titan a.e*

Cojuancidence

Loved this as a kid but was too young to remember anything except there is a cool surfboard sail type thing? Excited for a rewatch 🤙🏻

Steven Warner
