Fav episode so far. And Kuina was already my fav character (I just like her demeanour) but even more so now knowing that she's trans (Hikari is her "dead name"/pre transition name). I think the guy now in charge is the witch but mostly I'm wondering why his relationship/friendship with hatter deteriorated.

Ann is the type to coldly and logically analyze the situation before her and act bravely in trying to solve things by force of understanding. Kuina is the type that suffered a lot in the past but doesn’t let her suffering trap her in a cage.

2024-12-30 14:30:37 +0000 UTCAs much as I love the differently-designed games in the previous episodes, this episode is an episode of backstories, which definitely adds more depth to the show, making the show more than just about the games. Oak’s interpretation of the metaphor of “old world vs new world characters” is quite refreshing and interesting to me. The other version of subtitles (English) actually explains it much better, showing how similar yet also different Last Boss’s and Kuina’s characters are: They both don’t like their past, but what makes them different is - While Last Boss was turning his back to the past, Kuina was brave enough to look back, face and embrace her past while looking forward to the future; and while Last Boss wants to stay in this new world, Kuina actually wants to return to the old world to her mom with her new identity. The final episode of s1 is one of my favourite episodes for s1 of this show, along with episode 3. While all games requires some thinking, the final episode has the biggest plot twist for s1 and is what makes the writing of s1 of this show so great and beautiful.

2024-12-30 10:08:32 +0000 UTCI second this! The beauty of the final episode lies on the reasoning of both Hatter’s death and the massive killing. Who the witch was becomes the least important of the show after learning the reasoning behind, which is truly a plot twist beautifully written. And yes, the closed captions are for the dubs which are really bad; that sometimes changed the whole original conversation, let alone being inaccurate in translation/ conveying the true meaning in Japanese.

2024-12-30 06:51:39 +0000 UTCvery spot on analysis on the kuina vs last boss and them being foils to each other i also didnt pick up on it on the first watch but it was a really great scene with a physical fight but also a fight of their wills/ideals~ cant wait for the next eps its just gonna get better and better

2024-12-30 03:55:17 +0000 UTCFantastic reaction guys. The cast is just awesome, they do such a good job. Hikari Kuina's backstory always makes me cry. And Niragi's backstory makes me so sad.. I still cried for him.. not an excuse for his behavior, but I like when shows give us the why, of why people are the way they are or why they have acted a certain way. I am so happy we are gonna be at episode 8 next. The season finale is gonna be great, can't wait for you all to see it!

2024-12-30 00:11:09 +0000 UTCI relate to Kuina, I'm gay and my dad well his an old school born in 1985, and still thinks that LGBTQ is still a menace of sickness to society his straight, a drunk, often in jail, catholic, etc., sadly we don't talk anymore its been decades, I don't even know if his alive, and i don't want to know. He wasn't cut out to be a father, or maybe I wasn't cut out to be his son. I don't face my past like Kuina cause it never really existed, no bonds, no childhood, no fatherhood, so for me its just better to just move on and look forward in the future, than looking behind you expecting the things that are bound to happen, which is "pure disappointment" in fathers face.

I know I called who the witch was the second the game started because of how every game had played out up until now. But the final episode (of this season) definitely made up for me figuring out the witch so early. Hopefully you guys switch to subtitles instead of closed caption. For starters, it spoils things before the scene can be played out. You definitely would've had a bigger reaction to Kuina's past had it not said "Kuina's father" the second we go flashback mode. And secondly, the translation is a bit whacky and not accurate from what others have said.
