Hence why it’s a 4 of clubs

MJ Eid

Diamond Dave killing it with the plan

MJ Eid

Haha spoke too soon about not having the wolf-sheep outside of arena mentality. Can’t wait for you guys to find out more.

WHY

Guys, did you miss the GOAL sign when they were all standing on the bus after the water? It shows you more than one angle, not just from the side, but from the top too.

WHY

It's timid compared to the rest of the games

TheMilkMan

The tricky thing about this game is the water replenishment station which makes them think they’re going in the right way; yet I would say the Panther is a hint that they should go the other way. I think if Arisu didn’t just lose his friends, he would’ve been more observant and figured the game out.

WHY

I appreciate you guys pay close attention to every detail of the show and the subtitles, but it seems like you’re using “English cc” as the subtitles which is really inaccurate. I would suggest you change to “English” which is so much better - it’s more accurate to the true meaning of what they’re saying in Japanese, more poetic, more well-phrased with better choice of words, and requires more thinking.

WHY

The game’s still crazy and innovative if we think about it as a stand-alone game/ episode but I guess we really are just getting used to the craziness of the show after the first 3 episodes, especially the 3rd.

WHY

Excellent point. As observers, it can be hard for us to remember the emotional/mental state of the people we're watching.

Bluhawke

I think if he had been in a better mindset, not grieving his friend and being mentally exhausted by the guilt, he maybe would have been able to put 2 and 2 together.

Maelyra

Team challenge: If they stayed with their team they all would have passed… …and be mindful, GOAL is written in English and graffiti.

Harlee

Not my fav ep but still love your reaction to it

Sukisuki

This is my least favourite episode of the entire show, nothing too crazy, but still a good episode to take a breath from the last three episodes. By the way Usagi, the climber girl, her name means rabbit in Japanese, yes she's the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.

TheMilkMan

Fresh food will be spoiled because the electricity is out. Usagi hunt for decent meals, not snacks or preserves.

Rather than thinking these games don't tell you what you need to do, I think all of them do. It's just how you interpret, manipulate or overthink the rules which gets you in trouble. Haha. If you look again at this one, it says to 'endure the trial' (the panther and water from the burst dam) and 'safely attain the goal' (in this case stay where the goal is). It's the long time limit and the name 'Distance' with the counter on the phones which made the players feel they needed to run. That aside, the games are all over the city - the participants don't need to travel back and forth. Wherever they are, signs light up to point to where a game is. When you go in and pass the lasers and/or pick up one of the phones with face recognition...you're registered and after the start time, no one else can join. There's a minimum and maximum number of participants, but it doesn't have to be set at 3 or 5 or more. The problem is that you can't pick and choose between games because once you're in, you can't quit. As for the suits for the games...maybe this summary will clarify things for you a little more...just keep in mind that all games require a mix of skills depending on how you decide to play them and who you're playing them with. Clubs games can be won with teamwork/cooperation...so here, they needed to work together to get petrol to the bus and drive it to save the rest of the team. Team games don't mean that the whole team needs to survive to win or that you'll only manage if you have all the participants working together. Diamonds games require more intelligence-based strategising. It's more IQ focused (e.g. riddles, logic, maths) rather than streetsmarts focused or anything else. Spades games are more physically challenging like they focus on endurance, strength, combat skills, agility etc. But as you can see, all the other games really have physical aspects too. Hearts games, as you know, can be won more by deception, manipulation and sacrifice. However, it's not to say that these factors are only found in hearts games...you could easily deceive, manipulate and sacrifice others to win in games in other suits.

Or maybe the bottles of water was a twisted warning of what was in store for them.

Donna Castellano

I don't think it was so much the bus could tank the water, it's that the force of it would've greatly disapated by the time it reached it at the other end of the tunnel. The only reason it had to tank the hit is because the other player and Arisu drove the bus to Usagi. And I think Arisu mightve seen the "Goal" on the bus when he made it back. There's a moment when his eyes go wide and his jaw drops. I'm almost certain that's when he saw it and it clicked in his mind.

smile 2 this week maybe 🙏

My gaming experience wouldve kept me alive on this one. I knew immediately once it showed the zero for distance that the bus was the goal, couple that with knowing how these games are usually the opposite of what they usually are irl. But in any game with a distance tracker...the destination is always at 0. If youre trying to reach a goal, the number decreases as you get closer..not higher. This one was pretty easy to figure out, atleast for me,but still a fantastic execution of it and a great episode.

Matthew Glover

This is one game I knew I would’ve survived because even if I’m not injured, I’m not running. I never run.

Simone

Im so excited for the coming episodes, it's just getting better and better! It's been so long since I watched this so it's a fun way to rewatch if by reaction videos 🫶

I personally hated the mind game of "is it safe to drink." I personally think it was just water, but because the games are so twisted, you can't trust your instincts.

Megan

So on my first watch, I remember thinking they needed to stay on the bus. Only because, their phone started at zero and went up the moment they left. I believe the instruction was get closest to the goal or something like that. But since the rules weren't that clear, I figured I was wrong. But when they came upon the panther, I figured that was a a non subtle "you're way off course" sign. Because logic would have you turn around to run away from it. What is messed up is that had Arisu not gone back for the injured guy, he would have been the ONLY survivor. And it would've purely been because he was too injured to play. We could've lost our girl Usagi and I would've been livid honestly. I'm a fan of Arisu but Usagi is one of my favorites.

Megan

Agreed. Very clever/sadistic of the game master to place false positives so far away.

Bluhawke

I was disappointed at first that Arisu didn't realize they were already at the goal--as a gamer, you never have a count up to a location objective, it's always a count down: at 0, you're there. But, I think yall are right that ultimatly, the games are trying to use your instincts and assumptions against you. The paranoia that would set in, sitting for 2hrs hours on the bus, questioning--is this really right?

Bluhawke

I always thought it was so messed up how the water was put in the tunnel to make it look like they were doing the correct thing. Cause if they had figured out the game correctly from the beginning they never would have even been near it.

GOAL

I'm pretty sure this game is my favorite in all of season one. :D

Fairy_Chim95

What’s so good about these games that this show is giving us, is allowing the viewers to think outside of their own perception. If it were real life scenarios, you’d have to be force to think outside the box, but also ensuring you don’t go too far out of the box otherwise you’d miss the point. Things aren’t always as simple as it seems, or as hard as it seems. What I noticed so far with all your viewings, specially with Oak and Quinn, is they always compare the games on what they normally know about the game or folklore e.g with the tag game or the hide and seek. And that’s the beauty of this. You have to rethink what you normally know and think outside of it. The games are also testing the characters with not only physical, but mental and emotional as well. Each card suit may represent a certain aspect, but it’s not really as clear cut as it makes it to be. Also, this is one of the 2 games I figured out right away (the other game is the very last game they played in season 1, won’t spoil it) but the rest of the games still allude me lol.
