Agreed. These are very generic Shonens with cool fight scenes and animation i guess but the story and characters feel lacking. No where near as Aot and Death note, without a compelling story it’s hard to stay interested in watching. Didn’t go further than season 1

However DN is only 37 eps and with its brilliant writing, and amazing animation that still holds up (almost) 2 decades since its release, I’m not complaining and this could be a nice change of pace for our guys to discuss, dissect and enjoy. ☺️💕 PS: I do agree with the majority that Death Note English dub should be the one to watch @BaddMedicine Crew! 😁

I love ghibli movies and I grew up watching them but imo if you aren't someone who loves that type of aesthetic or someone who doesn't have the nostalgic feeling from the movies I think they're hard to get into. I almost fell asleep during the blue heron and my parents had no idea what was going on nor did they want to. Finally someone else says it. I put it in the same area as Black Clover, Fairy Tail, and Jujutsu Kaisen. They're all very pretty to look at and the fights are fun, but there's literally never any substance. I didn't get far enough into Demon Slayer to make sure, but in all the others they just pull new moves out of their ass when the situation demands it. It's the most boring progression ever.

I personally think you all should start with some series that are already finished like Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood(there are two versions, the Brotherhood version is closer to the original manga and arguably better than the first attempt overall). And even though I love Jujutsu Kaisen, it is NOWHERE near complete when it comes to the anime. But both Death Note and Fullmetal will give you guys some really interesting things to chew on.

BADD MEDICINE PLEASE READ You guys are still new when it comes to anime so let me point out a few things: 1. You put Vox Machina on a poll with anime. Rookie mistake. The anime reaction viewer base absolutely dwarfs all other reactions communities. There are a few exceptions, but generally if you put a non-anime on a poll with anime, there is a 99% chance the non-anime show will lose. 2. The "battle shounen" anime community dwarfs all other anime communities. Anime is just a medium. There is horror, drama, action, thriller, comedy, sci-fi, etc. Battle shounen refers to a type of anime that appeals to teenage boys that contain a lot of action. Obviously, you can enjoy these shows at any age as noted by their popularity. These shows are essentially the Fast X/Transformers/Marvel movies of the anime world. Something like Attack on Titan is labeled a seinen. It is targeted towards more mature audiences. Seinen and the other genres of anime listed above tend to lose polls to all popular battle shounen unless that show is really good AND popular. AoT and Death Note meet this criteria but there are many great shows that aren't nearly as popular. 3. Battle shounen tend to have a lot of episodes. Many of the battle shounen people are recommending have 100+ episodes. Some of them have 200+ episodes. And while all of the battle shounens recommended so far are worth watching, most of them are not as consistently good as AoT. You're basically going to have one show taking up your only anime spot for over a year, maybe two. 4. You may want to add some limitations to future polls or even choose a show for yourselves. If you only watch what the viewers want, you're only going to see the John Wicks and Marvels of the anime world. It's very rare for the Whiplash and Hacksaw Ridges of the anime world to win a popularity contest.

I said this somewhere else but I think, since you watched all of AOT in dub, it might be beneficial for you guys to watch this one in dub. That way you guys can decide for yourselves which viewing experience you prefer and not let audiences dictate it for you. i mentioned it in another comment, but it seems fair to say that Vinland + Death Note on the list would´ve ended up in fewer votes for both shows. Its mostly the same group of people who will vote for these 2 after all, and its their main anime audience. But still there are a lot of young folks around here for AOT, for whatever reason haha. yea for these guys id guess theyre similar to me, AOT is #1 and its not even close because of that reason exactly, it has none of the "typical anime" stuff that a lot of ppl find cringe including myself. I'm currently voting for Death Note, but in the future if we have another anime poll you guys have to do Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood!! There is two adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist - "Fullmetal Alchemist" or "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood." Brotherhood is the superior option to go with because it is more faithful to the original source material and it has less filler episodes! It also has some of the best opening songs in anime (in my opinion). I hope it wins someday!! 🥹

This is a reminder that AOT is almost over and I’m sad. Sharing my favorite show with you guys has been such a highlight. I’ve watched one episode of Death Note and never continued, so if that wins at least I can do that with you. I also have been watching Vinland Saga because so many people recommended it for AOT lovers and I have to be honest, I’m not feeling it like I did AOT. I only have 9 episodes left of season 2 to watch and mostly I’ve just been bored with the entire second season. Season 1 had some good moments. But I don’t really understand all the people who say it’s comparable. Maybe if you guys were to watch it at some point I could watch with you and have a better understanding of why it’s so celebrated.

Hard to go wrong with any of these. However FMA and Death Note are both particularly good options because they're complete rather than still ongoing. And out of the two, I think FMA is much more up your guys' alley in terms of themes and lessons. Death Note is iconic and addictive, but has a huge drop off in quality halfway through which is unfortunate. FMA by contrast only gets better as it goes on. There's a reason it's on a lot of people's shortlists for "best of all time." Still, as I said, all of these are great options; looking forward to the winner!

If Fullmetal Alchemist wins, it should be specified that the community probably wants the reaction to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and not Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 adaptation). The 2003 adaptation is not great and typically when people recommend or talk about FMA, they are talking about Brotherhood, the second adaptation.
