I can’t be sure, but I think the wallpaper in the cell is something of a reference to the short story “The Yellow Wallpaper”. It might be a bit longer than the short stories you’re used to reading (if you’ve read a few handfuls of short stories), but it’s excellent and makes those moments of this episode that feature the wallpaper make a bit more sense.
