2024-08-02 06:44:11 +0000 UTCThe scene with Alicent witnessing Aegon grieve is an amazing parallel to Otto and Alicent's scene right before. It shows family trauma in the form of parental emotional neglect being passed down. Otto disregarded Alicent's feelings and did not provide her comfort when she says "I have sinned." Then the next scene shows Alicent neglecting Aegon as he grieves. Alicent does not know how to provide her children comfort in strenuous situations because she never received any from Otto. This is also shown when Alicent is worried about Helaena knowing her secret more than she is worried about the loss Helaena suffered. It is also shown with Aemond seeking comfort from another woman as you guys mentioned!

Also, I feel bad for Alicent, her life has been horrible BUT the way he turned her back on her own son while crying was beyond HORRIBLE, I mean, there are no words but not even a hug????!!!! boy, not that Aegon is a good person but again, not even a hug???? and that part made me think "this entire episode was plan after plan after plan, to the point Alicent forgot his own son was grieving the death of his son, how terrible (and well done from the tv show's pov xD). p.s I agree with The Answer, I don't think Alicent leaving Aegon alone meant she was giving him time, it meant her not being present as a mother, and Aemond is also an example, he was with an older lady, curled up as a baby, seeking comfort

2024-06-25 15:00:45 +0000 UTCHave not read the books but one thing keep in mind they never showed Cole accept the Hand of the King position and honestly the way his facial expressions were shown didn’t look like he wanted it at least to me so Layrs is still in play to be Aegon Hand Now obviously I can be proven wrong in the very next episode but for right now just thought it was interesting that they didn’t show Cole actually accepting the position
