Game Night Part 4 (Finale)

I'm going to be completely honest, this finale is about 3 times as long as some of the previous chapters. It wasn't intentional, but for pacing reasons, just like I had to split the story into several parts, I felt that there wasn't any proper ending point for this chapter beyond the actual ending of the story. 

Now, because of this, and because my birthday is coming up, I'm going to be taking a small semi-break in September. Nothing major, but I'm going to be posting 1 story rather than 2, and then taking the other half of September to relax and enjoy turning another year older. 

For this chapter though, I do have some trivia! I hadn't exactly planned out how Margot turns over to the Stepford side of things, but I knew it would be a gradual and not entirely clear cut change. She steps over the line at some point, for sure, but where exactly it is isn't clear. Is it the moment she gave up? When her sexuality was unchained? Was it entirely an internal process, as she realized how peaceful and affordable and (relatively) accepting Stepford is? All of the above? The mindfuck goes deep though. 

Now, I did have one particular in mind, which is that Margot was never going to lose her love for art. It's no longer her career, obviously, as her place is in the home, but there are all sorts of uses for her artistic talent. Greeting cards, homemade dresses, gifts for neighbors, so on and so forth. But I did want to leave it up in the air as to whether Carter had planned to change that and failed, or never once considered snuffing out her love for drawing. 

And as for the epilogue, that was also planned from the very start. Like Lina mentioned, the game night is a sort of tradition in this neighborhood, whenever a new family moves in. Lina and Beverly inducted Carter and Margot into the community, and now Margot and Carter are going to do the same for Jiali and her husband. Maybe they'll play The Newlywed Game, or maybe they'll switch it up and go for Charades, or Pictionary. But by the end of the night, Jiali is going to have a whole bunch of nanites swimming through her body, making her into the best version of herself.
