Going Viral (Stepfordization)
Added 2021-10-13 12:00:05 +0000 UTCI've been thinking lately about the whole "going viral" thing, and the consequences of it. I've never gone viral in a major way before myself, although I have had a handful of social media posts blow up in a way I never expected, and it led to me writing this!
The idea of someone going viral for something related to Stepfordization, only to watch as it actually seemed to change the way people behave, whether by some mystical force or a weird trick of the brain, or something else even. Knowing that they're unintentionally responsible for other people becoming 50s housewives.

Thanks! I was actually pretty lucky, since I realized when she’d been affected by the video that I already had her owning a housewife outfit she could wear, haha. As for future videos, I think that as long as her new boyfriend gives her permission, Amy Jo would be all too happy to start posting tutorials on how to be a good, obedient 50s housewife~

2021-10-14 16:28:33 +0000 UTCAnother thing I love about this story is how quick/easy it is for Amy Jo to change back into her housewife outfit from the video, as if she still had it all together just in case (love how detailed the outfit is too). Even tho she pretended the video was a joke she didn’t care about, some part of her must’ve been like “well, who knows, maybe I’ll want to wear it again…for another prank of course” Do you think she’ll keep making new videos, or was the first one enough? In any case I’m sure her fans will be so excited to see her dressing properly and returning the housewife excitement they bring to her!

Looking forward to your future story plans though! And yes, I fully agree! I’ve seen a lot of cosplays and the like inspired by the show!

I love the idea of a Stepford parody getting the exact wrong reaction — I was actually tossing a similar idea around for awhile, tho mine would’ve been with a politician. I like yours better! Which frees me up for other story ideas I’ve become more fixated on anyway. In any case, the real-life success of things like WandaVision makes it feel believable that the Stepford aesthetic could go viral
