The Specialist (Stepfordization)

The idea for this story began during an RP with a close friend, where I just got the idea of a dominant Stepford woman, who enjoys toying with and Stepfordizing girls, stuck in my head. This isn't the character from that RP, but she sort of fits into that archetype of a cool, confident, somewhat manipulative woman.
I ended up trimming a few things from this story, mostly because they didn't gel with the shape it was taking. For this one, I just wanted it to be a sort of two person scene, focusing on one woman attempting to interrogate and reeducate another. As a result, it's more of a dialogue between those two sides, rather than focusing on backstory and social media (the two elements I ended up cutting). Hope you enjoy!

2021-08-12 20:50:45 +0000 UTCThank you! The idea of people who have grown up in Stepford society is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Aside from this story, and the one I plan to use the scrapped ideas in, the Retro Futurism multi parter I’ve been working on is also about someone who grew up in this sort of society trying to resist it. I might also examine other perspectives on it too, like following someone who grew up there and is just as committed to it without the brainwashing as their parents are with it.

Usually a Stepfordization story is like a before and after; you’ve done step-by-step ones of course but this is a particular focus on the in-between stages, lingering in the brainwashing. I also like how this story follows naturally from your previous two, in the sense that both “Bet on Black” and “Stepford Stray” alluded to the massive size of Stepford and the ever increasing amount of people moving there, most of whom will presumably have children...so what is it like for young people, especially young women, who grow up there? Exploring that with Sophie here is another thing we haven’t seen much
