In this case it's because I wrote scissors kick then bicycle kick referring to the same goal and my wife said 'bruh you made a mistake'. I've realised I'm never going to be consistent with this description!

2025-10-26 11:53:20 +0000 UTCIs the convo between Max and Brooke a subtle call back to when a goal in one book changed from a bicycle kick to a scissor kick in the next book? Embarrassingly, it kinda thru me for a loop when it happened, so it's funny to have it mentioned here. Cheers lol

2025-10-14 00:05:29 +0000 UTCNorthern Ireland is the low-hanging fruit of home international teams. With his PA, could he not reach a little higher? George Best was wasted in the NI team. If you have a strong affinity for the flag, I suppose you will want to fly it. I am becoming aware of collective and uncountable. Although I'm a native speaker, I don't always know what I'm speaking.

2025-10-13 23:48:35 +0000 UTC“We’re gonna finish 10th. No, eighth! No, seventh!” Sure Max, you’re really going to get to seventh and not try to go up one more place to make the playoffs.

2025-10-13 21:53:48 +0000 UTCSuffering is an uncountable noun, iirc. I like how it sounds in the original and didn’t even notice this. I think Americans unconsciously default to singular verbs after such nouns, unless a plural noun nearby brings it to their attention. “They had confirmed the fuel leak, but air and water was a more immediate issue.” Issue-> were issues

2025-10-13 21:21:00 +0000 UTCThat's not a little nitpick to me. Please always point them out! Knowing who's talking is pretty basic for a story! I've made a tiny tweak to clarify that. Thanks!

2025-10-13 20:22:47 +0000 UTC'Need taken care of' etc is common in Scotland. It's a far too subtle hint that he's still thinking Scottishly. I made your change about sin for clarity but I was thinking of 'x and y' as a collective. That one's not worth tripping the readers up over!

2025-10-13 20:22:03 +0000 UTCThanks for another amazing chapter! However much I've enjoyed the latest chapters, it is fun to be back in the game again. :) One little nitpick; for the back and forth that ends with "I knew you were gonna say that.", I have no idea who it is saying what. Not that it matters much perhaps. :)

2025-10-13 19:59:13 +0000 UTCAh, I see the overzealous soccer mom is a tradition that crosses the pond. Fun chapter, thanks! Edit Suggestions: I have the money to take care of my people when they need taken care of -- is the second half of this sentence appropriate British English? Sin and suffering was behind me. -- was -> were, unless sin and suffering are a collective noun somehow
