It covers a huge but meaningful stretch of time and its subject material is so broad (and complex to maintain all the continuity), yet you manage to keep it detailed, focused and character centric (I effing love that a 24 year old rock star still has something of a fish out of water imposter syndrome thing going). It's so good I don't even mind the cliff since it feels so well earned as the reader. Kudos, Ted, keep on keeping on.

Emma the incredibly heavy sleeper and the Neck Pillow Incident is beyond adorable. I get the feeling I'm supposed to really care about losing Foquita because of the mom, but instead she's made it a win-win. Get him, get an awesome striker. Lose him, avoid having to work around a nightmare tiger mom. Genuinely unsure what the best move for youngster would be. A higher rank team would push him higher, but Max is probably the single best developer of players in the system. Hard to say who could get Youngster higher long-term.
