Pleading your case to the Dragon Council Description

This one doesn't have a whole lot of lore tbh. I wanted to see the theories in the comments. It goes with the Dragon series, just another adventure of a human turned dragon, but other than that it's all mysterious and up in the air. I'd love to hear ya'll's theories if you have any! Anyway here's the description.

A tragedy has occurred with you in the center of it.

You had taken a break from wandering the earth and somewhat settled down in a dragon civilization. It was peaceful. The dragons you lived with had a gentle way of life; simply going about their business, trading with other species, not bothering anyone. It was a lovely respite from the years of fights and wars you’d participated in.

You got a job, which is something you never expected to do. The Dragon Council, the group that ran the dragon civilization, made you a guard for important items in the special vault. Due to your history of strength and leadership it was easy for you to get the job, and it was an easy job to do. You settled into a nice routine and it seemed like you were finally able to breathe.

That was until one night.

Your fellow guards made some excuse about going out for walk, which you found suspicious, but you preferred to work alone so you didn’t protest. But they were gone for far too long. You grew more and more alert, preparing for the worst.

Just as you were baring your teeth for a fight, the worst happened.
