Waking up in Group X Maze Script

I am a ginormous fan of the Maze Runner series. I would say books > movies, but the movies have Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Dylan O'Brien and Will Poulter, so really, it's impossible to choose. 

I wanted more than anything to spend just a couple minutes in the Glade. I still do. If I could go anywhere, any fictional universe,  I'd go there. Even if I died, which I probably would knowing how slowly I run, I'd go there. So, I wrote this script to be there, even if just for a little while.

"Well well, look who's finally up!

You're quite the curious one, aren't you? Go ahead, look around. Take it all in. Beautiful, isn't it?

Pause

Hey, take a few deep breaths. You're alright. You're safe.

Pause

Slowed heartbeat

Nature sounds

I'm Gloria. Can you tell me anything about yourself? Who you are? Where you come from? Anything at all?

Pause

No? Call you tell me your name?

Pause

It's ok, it's ok. Just relax. It's normal. It's happened to us all. You'll get your name back in a day or two. Unfortunately it's the only thing you'll get back.

Pause

Come on. Walk with me. Let me show you around.

Over there is where we sleep. You'll get a hammock and sleep there with everyone else. The upper rooms are for our group leaders. You'll be assigned a group later, don't worry about that now. Over there is where we eat. We grow our own food, build our own shelter. And whatever else we need, the box provides. That's that giant metal elevator you came up in.

Pause

The box gets sent up once a month with fresh supplies and a new recruit. We call all the recruits Penny until they get their names. Get it? Like a new penny? Anyway, this month, that's you. Congratulations.

Pause

Hey, deep breaths. It's hard the first couple days, I know. We all know. Just take it slow and don't hesitate to ask someone if you have questions.

Pause

Those doors? Those doors lead to a maze. A death trap maze, as a matter of fact. It's full of deadly creatures that murder anyone unlucky enough to be trapped in it. But they only come out at night. That's why no one except the Explorers are allowed out there. That means you’re not allowed out there. Understood?

Pause

Good. Because curiosity takes many lives around here. Stick close to the group and you'll be perfectly safe.

Pause

Now, as for some other rules. You'll be assigned a group and some tasks to do each day. We all have to do our part around here, otherwise we all die. And dying is bad. Understood?

Pause

Along those lines, don't hurt anyone else. No cat fights with the other girls, or you'll get yourself reassigned to a job you really don't want to do. Sound good?

Pause

Awesome. Oh, and we have a bonfire every month when the box comes up. To celebrate the new Penny or the passing of time... I'm not really sure. It keeps morale up, and that's the important thing. Go over to the box, get your hammock and clothes and stuff, and go get a spot in the dormitories. Then walk over to the cafeteria for dinner. Oh, and as tempting as it will be, don't drink Storm's brew. She's a genius when it comes to drinks and it gets you drunk as anything. Getting wasted isn't exactly the best thing to do with your first night in the Glade.

Pause

Hm? Oh, that's what we call this place. The Glade.

Pause

I named it. I was first one up, so it was my call.

Pause

Yeah. I came up first. All by myself. Sonya was next. She's the leader of the exploring group that goes into the maze. Blonde, tall, sassy as anything.

Pause

You'd like to meet her? I mean, I'm sure you will eventually. But, why specifically?

Pause

You want to be an explorer? I don't blame you, most Penny’s do. It requires a lot of training and exercise, though. You think you can handle it?

Pause

Laugh

I'm sure. It's getting late. The doors will be closing soon. They close at night. Hurry up, run and get your hammock. Go on, then!
