I Love Discord (An Appreciation Post)

I started my channel's discord as a way of connecting with people. I love love LOVE reading over comments and getting ideas from people, and I wanted more of that. 

I knew very little about discord when I started. I had an account to chat with a couple friends, but that was it. I didn't know how to make channels, I didn't understand bots, nothing. So, with the help of a couple how-to YouTube videos and articles, I built it. 

I was very quickly overwhelmed. There are a ton of buttons and I didn't know how to work everything and bots?? What?? Instant confusion. I had to take a step back so I wouldn't stress out about it. Then I tried again. 

It's a very simple server, as servers go. No bots, only a couple of channels, no audio or video call rooms. I think there are 20 people in it as of August 2022, when I'm writing this. And that is exactly how I want it. I've had a couple people suggest more channels, audio channels, and bots, but honestly, I'm very happy with how it is. It's not overwhelming. It's a very safe place for me. 

On that note, the people I've met through it have been such a blessing. They've offered technical support, ideas, scripts, they've hyped me up for my livestream when I was shaking from nerves, they built an entire other server filled with lore for me, and there's been talk of a book! Then, last night, I mentioned the newest video would be a little late because I've been struggling mentally. And the support honestly brought me to tears. Not to be sappy, but I don't have that many friends in real life that support me like that. It really meant the world to me. I feel like I've found my people. It's been entirely wonderful. 

All this to say, I love discord. I didn't think I would, but I do. ☺️ And I really love every single friend I've made on there.
