Short Stories: Extra Scratch
Added 2025-03-23 17:31:10 +0000 UTCI've been clawing lately to draw more CRUSHED ICE, both current musical misadventures and blasts from the past. But to keep the tunes flowing we're gonna need roadies, those unsung heroes of harmony. We salute you!
If you're just now joining us, wow, hello! Icy (the bear) is an aging rocker who bangs the drums and originated CRUSHED ICE. She also runs a gym called Roughnecks, where these young ladies work. Eloisa (the burro) is a muscular straight girl with a heart of gold who is raising her younger sister alongside their uncle (he's not a jerk, I think he just forgets to eat). The albino frog, Daylily, is the butch trans daughter of one of Icy's friends. Daylily will be taking over the role of randy little upstart from Autumn, as that's not the direction my wife wanted for the latter character.

And double indeed, if my wife creates a character for use in WwF, and I insist I get final say because it's my comic, guess who ACTUALLY gets the last word?

Icy's incarnation in WwF is an illustration of where I think I COULD be at her age, if things go well for me. Read: self sufficient, a respectable member of the community, and a champion for homeless pets. That's all I really want.

Also glad I’m not the only one who’s powerless against their partner making changes to their story, sometimes I’ll come to them with an idea and they’re like nope that character wouldn’t do that. And they’re always right!

Hard, unforgiving work? Make it worth their while in cash. Eloisa will almost certainly spend it on the family and Daylily ... I don't know, but it will be creative, i'm sure.
