FOREST SPIRIT! We give you back your candy! Take it and be at Reeces Pieces!

According to the internets, kids no longer trick or treat for the most part. This does make make my heart hurt, but it's a different world now and change happens. You KNOW beggers' night was lit af when I was a tadpole; I'm glad I was there to enjoy it. Mantiski and Agnes are fascinated with the traditions of old, so if they come a'knockin at your door, find a pack of gum or an avocado or something to throw in their pumpkin buckets. Don't you dare make my babies sad.

Those cossies are pretty great, not gonna lie. Green bug and blue frog are artsy little critters but surely they must had had professional help. Kittiwake, j'accuse. Also, don't worry, that's a cardboard blade. Nobody laced Mantiski's candy with ancient Honshū weapons.

Itzel: When I was your age we had to work for our candy! We made our costumes out of sticks and rags! We trick or treated uphill in the snow!

No rocks here folks. Cass and Gnewt are passing out the big bars.

Mantiski's cossie is two for one!

There are loads of kids in my neighborhood, but they either don't guise at all or their parents drive them off to the swankier neighborhoods. I'm too shy to hand out candy anyway these days, so I guess it's a moot point

Must Love Frogs

This is a situation where I want to be proven wrong. Bring on the trick or treating!

Must Love Frogs

We still get trick or treaters where I live in NH. And I just love their costumes. :D

Yeah, I guess this whole trunk-or-treat thing really caught in during the pandemic and isn’t going away. Back in my day, we weren’t supposed to approach strangers’ trunks no matter how much candy they had.

I've seen it both ways. As an adult, I've lived in an apartment complex were the neighborhood was trick-or-treat friendly, but access to the apartment building was controlled, so we didn't get trick-or-treaters. Then I lived on a small, dead-end side street that nobody knew existed, really, so we didn't see many people, though trick-or-treating was pretty common. Then I lived in a rural area where people would just drive their kids to the nearest town, because it could be a quarter-mile or more between houses. Now that I'm IN town, I've run out of candy some years, and had to the store for more. One year I also gave out 50 pounds of potatoes, along with the candy. And I ran out of potatoes, too. So it depends on where you live, I guess.

Oh my God Mantiski's costume... XD Also, I think Trick-or-Treat's prevalence depends on the location.

I've long been a Halloween fanatic...I'm in the midwestern US, not sure where you are. No lie though, I have watched the holiday get more and more homogenized and neutered through the years. Sad as this is, I address it like I address my other two faves, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I adore seasonal celebrations with friends. You really are the one who chooses how you celebrate, and the fun you associate with it is all up to you.

Lousy clever kids!

That makes me happy. While trick or treating feels like a quintessentially midwestern thing, I can pretty much attest that it's dead here. I keep seeing Tiktok videos of sad Halloween adults cradling massive buckets of candy with no roving kids to receive the bounty.

People keep telling me that kids don’t trick-or-treat anymore, but I assure you the practice is alive and well in California. I go for a walk every Halloween night to immerse myself in decorated houses, costumes and vibes. There are hundreds of them out there in my area. It does my soul good.

Oh my god that's amazing

Nutjob

I did not know kids weren't trick or treating as much anymore, too busy on technology I suppose. Then again, where I live Halloween isn't celebrated much anyway and my family never really participated either. We do enjoy the spooky atmosphere and enjoy watching and playing horror stuff though, and my siblings like dress up.
