Sept Bonus: A Cass Act

Itzel's main squeeze was a very close second for this month's poll, and I've wanted to divulge more of this lovely sloth lady's story to you folks. So let's do the TIMELINE again! If I haven't mentioned, Cass is currently in her mid thirties, making her a decade or so younger than Itzel.

Slothling Cass: Cassandra Beauregard was born in Australia to a sloth mum (Mickey) and a platypus dad (Cyril). Fun fact: baby sloths in our world are born with strong, sharp teeth and claws, as well as open eyes, despite the fact that my art style depicts sloths with permanently sleepy eyes, heh.

Kid Cass: Cass was AMAB and was, at the time, called Chester. Cyril was bad trouble, boozy and violent, and treated his wife Mickey horribly. Cyril made one fateful mistake when he took a swing at his gentle, effeminate kid, whereupon Mickey bravely fought back, stole away and moved herself and Cass to the US to live with Gram.

Teen Cass: Mickey and her mother cherished and protected Cass, encouraging the young sloth's growth and expression. Femmy as she was, Cass assumed in high school that she must be a gay boy, though she did not enjoy dating guys. Chester eventually realized that she was Cassandra, and Mum and Gram helped her ease into the transition. The elder sloths did not care that their Bruce was a Sheila; in fact, they saw it coming, despite not having the words to explain the phenomenon.

Youngblood Cass: Cass had always loved /animals/, and had a special rapport with pet /cats/. She became a vet tech and learned to treat, nurture and love her little charges even more deeply. Meanwhile, she struggled to find her place in the lesbian community, and suffered a scar at the claws of an abusive ex. 

Cass Today: For a while our girl more or less gave up trying to socialize, focusing on her dedicated adoption shelter, Cass's /Cats/. Things changed for the better when Cass rescued Itzel's lost /cat/, Michiru, and a meet-cute resulted. Cass and Itzel would fall in love, and Cass was able to open herself up to a new group of friends at and around MacKenzie House. Cass and Itzel would even welcome a slothling of their own, via surrogate Piggy Sue.
