Revisiting Frances Metzger and family, created by Liz to be Piggy Sue's friend and mentor. Frances is the smol leucistic wolverine, her hubby Maynard is the tol hyena with the utmost coif, and their eldest daughter Deena is pictured in the middle.

Nee Mustelle, Frances and her quarterback boyfriend Maynard Metzger got pregnant just as high school was wrapping up. They decided to make a familial go of it, and lo and behold it worked out. The two are happily married today, running the Holler N Dash restaurant and raising Deena and her younger siblings (not shown, though I need to get around to that). Type A Frances is very much the boss of the Dash, and chill boi Maynard is her man Friday who assists her in any way required. Deena is a college student and an athlete like her daddy, playing point guard for the Biters. Her main squeeze is Lazelle Van Elver (also not shown), whom you might remember as one of Ike's cast mates at Sous La Mer Theatre.

Liz named Frances and Maynard after Frances Ruffelle and Maynard Williams, who starred in the original West End production of Starlight Express, playing a dining car and a diesel engine, appropriately. The Metzgers dislike BeeBee Wolfe implicitly, as she notoriously backed out of their deal to buy the Metzgers' old food truck when they really needed the cash (Piggy Sue bought the truck at a discount, and rechristened it Martha). Frances and Maynard are actually younger than most of WwF's heroes, but they've lived a hard and fast life, restaurateuring and raising a gaggle of kids, including one that they lost young to cancer. The Metzgers tenaciously believe that sorrow and setback just makes them stronger and more connected as a family.
