Kitten Val: Is there anything more precious in this world than teeny baby cub Val? I'll wait.
Kid Val: Our heroine's life as a Dickensonian urchin. Well, close enough. Her parents were starving artist poor and had to dress her in free clothes from the outreach bin. Mom or Dad probably made her diving beetle doll by hand (I didn't say they were very good at it).
Teen Val: Is she really goth or just a sadsack? Teen Val was a bit too loyal to her parents to be truly subversive, but she still did her due diligence at St. Charlies Thrift and the Piercing Pagoda. "IT'S NOT JUST A PHASE MOM oh god Mama I'm so sorry for yelling"
Youngblood Val: Her parents scraped the couch cushions and public fountains for change until they could send their kitten to St. Charlies University, where she found success and fulfillment on the swim team (she IS half diving beetle, after all). Maybe I should have drawn her with wet fur. I don't know, I don't sport.
Val Today: Having peaked in college and currently finding herself stuck in a middle management job she hates, Val has matured in to the hangdog cat we all know and love. Is there anything more precious in this world than teeny 40-something Val? I'll wait.

2024-01-13 01:08:41 +0000 UTCI love your enthusiasm, and thanks for asking! Valerie went to college for business because her parents believed she would get the most bang for her buck. They so wanted her to avoid their level of poverty, and she hadn't the heart to tell them she had no interest in being a business cat. Valerie has only ever really been passionate about her sport, and you can't major in "swim". She keeps her loathed claims manager job because she is desperate to have her own money, despite the fact that Red could easily support them both (and Kittiwake). At present, Val is beside herself and does not know what would bring her fulfillment. Don't give up, Val!

I wonder what she dreamed of she'd do with her life back then? I believe you mentioned she studied business, did she have a specific goal in mind with that? Perhaps a dream of launching her own business? Or did she just kinda drift into her current job? What change to her life would make Val happy now? Does she even know?
