A Charming Family

Posting more of Liz's contributions to WwF: a pair of lovely moms and their "little" girl!  The kid is a completely new creation of Liz's, but if you've been with me for a long (LONG) time, you might recognize the parents from our Tange and Lex stories.  Let's delve!

Mara Wylder is a handsome and confident cheetah lady who works with Itzel, Valerie, and so many others at the St. Charlies claims office of Tooth And Claw Insurance.  After working through high school at the Stomps' mechanic shop, Mara excelled through college on a sports scholarship and got a job at Tooth And Claw, where she is now a Claims Supervisor.  Everyone, including Val, is hoping that the bold and dauntless Mara will oust the evil Rhonda from her position of Branch Manager, hopefully sooner rather than later.  Sometimes cheetahs DO prosper!

Yuhka Sanshoku is a tri-color koi who can often be seen tending to the bountiful indoor landscaping in the St. Charlies Corporate Center building, in which Tooth And Claw is housed.  This serene soul is almost always mistaken for a gardener and nothing more, but her friends (including Clem the janitor) know the truth: flowers and plants are just her hobby.  In reality Yuhka is quite wealthy, and owns the building.  It's her prerogative to fill it with beautiful blooms.  PS: Yuhka is both a "fur fish" (a rare fish with a mane) and a fish with a tail, but koifolk love anything that flutters and flows, so Yuhka is considered very pretty by members of her species (and Mara!) 

Mara and Yuhka have one beloved child, their middle school-age daughter, Philomena Sanshoku-Wylder!  Phil (as we call her) is a basilosaurus, which I'm sure you know is a particularly toothy cetacean, not a dinosaur.  You may assume Phil was adopted, and you would be right.  It wasn't easy finding the baby basilo a family, as not only was she a huge pup and her care expensive, but she also has a congenital heart condition.  Mara and Yuhka were in a position to take on Phil's care and most importantly, love her to pieces.  Phil is frustrated that she can't play sports in school due to her condition, but her parents are helping her find other positive outlets for her wit and energy.

You haven't seen a WwF cetacean with a tail yet, right?  It's common in basilos and other proto-whales.  These things tend to be case-by-case.

Phil sprung fully formed from Liz's forehead, but you can probably tell which pop-culture warriors inspired Mara and Yuhka.  We know what we like!
