GROOVY NINJAS (Collect Them All!)

GROOVY NINJAS were a cartoon series and toy line that were popular in the 80s and which manages to reinvent itself every decade or so for a new generation of plastic-loving kinder.  One of which was Clem.  She still loves them.  Strap in, dudes, it's time to meet the GROOVY NINJAS!

Once transpired the hideous murder of an esteemed shadow ninja warrior/ classical composer/ hippie by an evil band of same.  To add salt to the fatal wound, his beloved pet /red eared slider/ was thrown into an open sewer grate, where the hapless creature would run afoul of a strange glowing Mutagen Goo.  Thus came into sapience the wise MASTER SPIRAL, who would adopt a quartet of similarly-goo'd young sewer dwelling creatures, and train them in the ways of heroic martial arts.  

Eldest of the adoptive siblings is VONBINGEN, once a lost baby /rat/ separated in the sewer from her /rat/ family.  Spiral upholds Von as his second in command for her steady nature, strategic mind and strong sense of justice.  This is likely why he trusted her with not one but two actual katana blades and not, like, a stick.

RACHMANINOV was some dope's pet baby /caiman/ who no doubt bit her handler and was flushed down the toilet.  Rach is the muscle of the group, a loner and a hot-head whom all the kids on the playground want to portray at recess.  Despite her rebellious hijinks, Rach is a total daddy's girl when it comes to Spiral.  She is also good friends with Spacey Joe (not shown), the astronaut-suit-wearing vigilant who beats up criminals with his Space Bat. 

STRAVINSKI was a lost baby /cockroach/ who was separated in the sewer from his /cockroach/ family and consequentially adopted by Spiral.  As a /bug/, Strav is the most intelligent and handsome of the siblings.  He is a genius who builds useful crime-fighting gadgets out of trash.  He invented the cell phone.  Wow!

Hold onto your fins, dudes, cuz here's ya boi MONTEVERDI!  Once a cheap carnival /goldfish/ living his best life in a cup by the sink, Monty was presumed dead and washed down said sink.  But he wasn't dead!  He was just goofing around!  This fun loving little brother always has a joke and a quip, and woe beTIDE the evildoer who tries to stop him flopping all over the place!  Also he loves a pirogi!  Ay caramba!  Anyway, Monty is Clem's favorite.
