ya'll, i try hard not to pedestal people. especially in the ~age of social media~ it's pretty easy to see some one with a bazillion followers and assume they're rad as hell. in tam's case, he actually is rad as hell. i first learned rope things from him in february of 2023. it was my second weekend intensive ever and i flew to oakland for it after just about begging voxbody for a waitlist ticket. that weekend lives in my short-ish list of rope education that has not just helped improve my technique, but single handedly changed the style/vibe/energy/blah with which i tie. in some cornier words, it was the most inspired i'd ever felt about rope up to that point, and thats really saying something.

what exactly the shift was i'll save for another post, but when tam was in new york this most recent november, the night before his last day in the states, i worked up the courage (there may have been a small amount of whiskey involved) to ask if he'd want to tie. and yall, YALL, when he said yes i nearly peed myself. how downright rad for someone who's rope i admire so damn much to trust me enough to want to be in mine.
