Previosly the shorty Petruccii flow and his sig jazz pick... still always come back to the full sized flow picks ranging from 0.88 - 1.14. They just sound better and eliminate any string resistance unlike the others. Fast metal playing, to some smoove Yazz.

2025-09-16 03:42:16 +0000 UTCRight now: Dunlop Tortex 0.60mm I play a lot of fast death/thrash. Much is technical. However, Im developing a lot cramps and numbness on my picking hand after 15 mins of playing. I was trying all sorts of picks (small, wide, light, heavy) but nothing really helped. Watching this video and understanding the “point of action”, it’s possible because I’m always holding the pick to the very tip to play lead/technical, when I can just slide back to rhythm and give myself room to breathe.

2025-09-16 03:40:50 +0000 UTCI am a heaux for picks and always trying new ones XD I use a .73 Flow on bass and primarily Hetfield White Fangs on guitar but will also use a 2.0mm Flow in either the usual Ultex or the Andy James version as his are delrin and I love delrin. I wish Dunlop would make a normal set of Flows in delrin >_>

2025-09-10 21:16:26 +0000 UTCi've been bouncing around different picks as well. I got one of those dunlop packs with 1 or 2 of everything they make. I really like the .96, 1.14, and most recently I just started with jazz iii 1.5 and have been really liking it. I like the precision of the 2mm picks and how it feels to hit the strings but it does feel like a workout after a while and after watching the video maybe i know why. If i stick with the 1.5 maybe making the transition to 2mm won't be so drastic.

2025-09-10 08:03:13 +0000 UTCI'm going back and forth between a Fender medium (.73-.88?) and a .60mm. Depends on how much Misirlou I'm attempting. Also the sound is different depending on string gauge. The sound I get with a Fender medium and .009 gauge strings is similar to the sound I get with .011's and a 1.14mm pick. So I think there's a balance maybe?

About two years ago I decided to do about 6 months work focusing purely on my alternate picking......like ONLY, anywhere from two to fours hours a day if not more. I strictly used a Jazz 3 and it really helped a tremendous amount, and most everything else lesser than feels like butter. Now I stick primarily to a 1mm nylon, and it's pretty good overall, however I'm finding myself flirting with many and comparing from phrase to phrase. All guitar players LOVE to buy new gear and guitars. What's the cheapest and most direct way to immediately change your tone as well as sharpen technique? ........Wait, what am I saying!!!! That's utter INSANITY. Definitely expensive gear. How silly of me.
