I fully endorse this way of learning. Not music related but an American tourist recently asked my how to pronounce the longest place name in Wales (the world). I broke it down into meaningful junks with pauses. Most people try to say it all as one string as fast as they can for some reason. The uncle Ben technique can be applied to all sorts of things!
