STOKED to share my next video!

What’s the “right” way to pick??? Is it leading edge or trailing edge? How can we find what’s best for us, and why do some players gravitate towards one versus the other? I’ve got a RAD video coming this weekend that’s gonna dive DEEP into this topic, and it’s all because one of you guys sent me a message asking about it (thanks Seth)!

What are other topics that you’d like to see a video about in the future!? Just like Frasier Crane himself, I’M LISTENING!

can't confirm but looks like The Magnet from Troy Grady

Luca

Ben, what mount are you using to hold your phone on the guitar neck?

The Zoo Media Network

How would you pick an arpeggio using string skipping. Say 3 notes on the D & G strings to 2 notes on the high E. Both forward and back. Would like to see if you had some tips on string skipping over all.

Themadnoodler

Awesome. It is a great film!

Brian Hudson

Indeed I have!!!

Ben Eller

Interesting!

Ben Eller

Pick grip video just dropped, get into it!!

Ben Eller

Very excited to see your next vid on picking... How about a John Norum Riff Introspection!!???

Nick Castelluccio

I was confused by that vid too-- Bernth said he puts the pick under his DIP joint (second knuckle) on his index finger in a close-up but he doesn't; if you watch him he actually puts it more under the PIP like most everyone else. I don't know why he explained it like that in that video its super weird.

Gregg B.

Tim Pierce talks alot about that, worth checking out

Elton Young

A few months ago, you mentioned a tool called S0lo (I think) that has a bunch of really cool features for practicing rhythm and modes. I would like to see how you use it or how you would recommend your students to use it.

Matt Womack

Can you do a half video of just you playing really fast licks without your amp on. And then the other half with your amp on no reverb, no distortion We would like to see your technique at work without any effects

Wonker

Hey Ben, have you ever watched the Rob Zombie film called House of 1000 Corpses?

Brian Hudson

I’ve changed the way I hold the pick many times throughout my guitar playing journey, will be interesting to see how you hold it

Johan Alexandersson

Looking forward to your next video and hope it has closeups of just how you’re holding your pick!

Chuck Saeger

Can’t wait to watch that video!

Reckless96

Thinking about your video on best licks from the 80s (and I’ll excuse you not including Battery, 2 Minutes to Midnight, or Holy Diver, to name a few clear omissions… 😉), it would be awesome to have you deconstruct the Dire Straits sound and how Knopfler doesn’t use a pick making his sound so warm and “round”, for lack of a better description.

Diogo Camacho

I humbly ask for a lesson on how to be a studio-ready player.

Tristan Youngquist

I was watching a video a while back from Bernth and he hold the pick almost clamped between the middle side of his index finger and his thumb? He says it’s best for speed, I just found it so awkward for the kind of funk and groove playing that I couldn’t get on board with it

Tekin Mustafa

Only as referenced on others’ channels. I should probably just go to the source.

Crusty Buttlungs

Have you watched any of the recent Troy Grady stuff? He goes pretty in depth about trailing edge and tremolo picking.

Luca

Literally a trailing edge picker for 38 years. Never had a teacher and friends and band mates never noticed. It just felt more comfortable chugging, and downpicking with fury. When you talked about it recently my mind exploded because I had never even thought about it. I’ve been trying to switch to leading edge and it works great for sweeps and speedy solo runs but chugging (not butt chugging) is hopelessly feeble that way. Anyway, tldr: tldr.

Crusty Buttlungs

Really looking forward to this video!

This is how you tell people they pick wrong https://youtu.be/573SbYMLYTQ?si=GlEOZc25-6FGQoKd
