Thanks for the technique tip, that's awesome advice (and not so easy to master!). When you want to mute let's say the A string do you have your index covering E (and B)? Or do you tend to make it touch only the string you want to make quiet?

Great Petrucci 7-String riff for sure, thank you! Would love a run down of any Intervals 7-string riffs, but a couple come to mind: "The Escape", "Alchemy", etc. Cheers!

The best glass prison tab I can make in this text box. 2:22 in the video: 320 0 320 0 000 500 600 😀👍🏻
Btw, the rest of it kicked ass!

HOLY COW!!!!! I think it doesn't matter, that I play this on a six-string with a good pitch shifter. But man, is this hard!!! For me, it's even a brain twister when I play it slowly. I really have to work on this (and I WANT to!), so thank you! I always look for challenges. They mostly are the most fun. :)

I loved the bit about "rhythm picking"! I know exactly what you mean (probably we all do) but I never saw anyone address it, let alone give it a name. It might be worth doing a video just on that.

I know it's not the hardest, but I LOVE the main riff of "build me up, break me down" by dream theater. The bridge section is impossible for me to play with any degree of clean.

Thanks, Uncle Ben. I've been hoping for some Petrucci 7-string guidance for a while, particularly trying to play clean since it's a bee-atch keeping the noise down with the extra string and the wider neck. Appreciate the left hand muting technique in particular. I've been working on Bridges in the Sky for a while...notes good (from DT tab book), but playing without slop is a challenge. Please do more!!

This one was really interesting! I’ve worked a lot on this song myself so it was very interesting to see how you handled the pitfalls. And also reminding us mortal guitarists that the pros also hit the same pitfalls makes us feel better about our playing
