Oh. My. God.

I am STUNNED.

This is a Schecter USA KM6 mkiii Pro from Sweetwater, and it’s one of the most insane guitars I’ve ever played. I had always heard the USA schecter stuff was nuts, but I wasn’t prepared for this…. Everything about this guitar reeks of quality. Plays like a dream, and it sounds massive! The world needs more hardtail super Strats.

I’m gonna use this for a “Why Do Guitar Players Liked Fixed Bridges?” video next week. What else you wanna know about it? A Meet the Machines, perhaps?

Oh. My. God.

Comments

I think I have realized I just do not like fishmans. I'm glad the new one seems to be using passives. The sound you got in the videos was great!

Mathew Upchurch

Brand new to Ben's Patreon so I don't know what "Meet the Machines" is, but I am intrigued. So yes Ben, bring it on!

Jeff Kolek

A friend of mine has an OG murdered-out USA Schecter strat made in the 70's/early 80's and that thing is a tone behemoth. I swear to God it weighs 13 pounds and damn near decapitated me when I tried it out. Absolute maniac of a guitar!

Joel Dickinson

Hello all! I just bought a Schecter Banshee Mach 6 FR-S. Got rid of that silly waranty thing by stripping it completely day one and went with EMG Het Set, kill switch and soon switch to gain boost. I found out that even though I was 14 years old in 1985 I somehow never experienced the Floyd Rose system. I bought my Charvel Model 6 at age 16 with a Khaler and have used it ever since. I only found out since doing research every day on how to be less frustrated with the Floyd that I discovered that the Khaler was also supposed to have the same problems. Someone forgot to tell mine because I switched to drop D and back at will since I bought it. Anyway, I wish I would have chosen the fixed bridge. I would love to hear more about this Schecter Uncle Ben!

Christian

I just bought my first Schecter (C-1 Platinum FR-Sustainiac) and it was just about perfect (for me) out of the box. I know it's not in the same class as the KM6 but I love it!

Michael Broome

But they could never look that good!

Patrick Callahan

I just joined Uncle Ben as a Stepdad and the first thing I see is this incredibly beautiful Schecter! I'll tell ya secret.....even their non USA guitars play incredibly well, I've had a couple over the years and they play pretty sweet. With a minimum of mods like pickups and pots they can be made into monsters!

Patrick Callahan

Hard tails are why I love most of the Ibanez PGM models. All of the creature comforts of those classic RG shredders without having to deal with the trem maintenance.

Ryan Abney

I need to get real good real fast so I can get a more better guitar.

Don Vape

Interesting looking top cap there. I’ve got one of those CR-6s in the black cherry burst. Nice playing piece. The push-pull pot is the Achilles heel, but easily repaired. That axe you have there looks similar.

T Friesen

Yes mate, would like to see a Meet the Machines on that guitar.

Brian Hudson

TOTALLY EFFING RADICAL. I'm a lefty and discovered schecter a couple years ago. They treat lefties with such respect by offering such a wide selection for us. I am a lifetime customer. Check out my beauties!: https://photos.app.goo.gl/TSp25FzMEeGhDJxW6

Mike Hindes

Oh man, I was almost ready to buy one of these but ultimately picked a very similarly-specced Aristides instead. But yes please to a Meet the Machines on this one! And yes, I was surprised by how little discussion I could find online about fixed bridges, so your insights there would be most appreciated!

Andrew Maul

"What else you wanna know about it?" As would Sir Gary Oldman yell: EVERYTHING!

Gaclav

That wood figuring is insanely beautiful.

Michael Maier

I have a Damien 6 string w/ FR and Sustainiac and THEN AFTER buying it, found out about the 7 string red one... SMH....

Michael Maier

Hard tails are the bees knees. Played for 25 years and finally playing trem guitars…. Learning to like them but hard tails are king

garret Wilkinson

Thanks

Wes Whaley

I feel like the $1200 range Ibanez are pretty glorious.

Shreddy McGuire

I am ready for a descent priced hardtail around $1200 to $1300 any recommendations?

Wes Whaley

Yeah, hoping my skills someday warrant something like this. Enjoy man!

Steven Cork

Bro wtf 🤯

Michael Cunningham

I want a Jeff loomis Cygnus 7 from Schechter (the pointy one) but they’re extremely rare. One of the guitars I missed buying.

NYCM&AHole

Same thing happened to me when I played a PRS NF53 recently. Went in prepared to mock it, but it knocked me on my ass. Incredible guitar. Had to buy it. And I do, indeed, like fixed bridges. Always wanted a hardtrail strat. I'll be looking forward to the video, and would definitely dig a deeper dive in a Meet the Machines.

SpaceChimp

Hardtail super strats are my favorite type of guitar at the moment. Wish they were not so uncommon.

ComplexWarb

I bought a LTD EC-1000 with Evertune and returned it within the 30-day window. Having a guitar in tune all the time is awesome, but I just couldn't get used to the sound. It's like every note was too "perfect".

Shane R

arent those supposed to have fluences in them? those m6 pickups?

Matt Nelson

Does anyone else find themselves reaching for an invisible term arm when playing hard tail? On the plus side it makes you better at vibrato since there are no other options.

Samir A

I have 2 schecters, they are great guitars.

Joe edmundson

I have a mix. I hate setting up Floyds (and don’t have the time to retune them almost every time I change tunings) so I literally have 6 Floyd rose guitars (most in different tunings) and 3 hardtails.

NYCM&AHole

Perfectly imperfect.

NYCM&AHole

🤤

Alexander Ehlert

As a lefty, I've heard a couple of people say that Schecter is one of the few who takes left handed production quality seriously (unlike,,,, you know who), but I've never heard one live. Let's hear how how this fellow sounds, Ben. See if you can demo different tones, amp combos, tunings- if you have time.

alexis mccraig

Ah, that's the one on my Sweetwater wishlist! Would love to hear thoughts about neck shape, p'ups, and overall feel... but the "SICK" response kinda covers all those bases, so thanks! \,,,/

Daniel Ward

Well, each to their own? It's all about finding what works for you 👌 Going to have to do some serious mixing and matching to find the best way to incorporate a wide arrange of tunings.

Anders

I don't mind the 25.5 in standard, but the 26.5 feels better. The solar in D standard with a drop G and believe it or not the Dunlop Korn strings .. they are heavy core 10-48 and then a 65.. great. I guess I'm a weirdo about string gauge

Shreddy McGuire

I have the import transparent white 7, and it is SICK. Unreal specs.

Ben Eller

Totally with you on the 26.5. And yes , I love Schecter. I have a hellraiser tempest from like -07, still plays fantastic.

Anders

Schecter makes a nice guitar man. I have a 97 UV, a RG7620, a Modern ash Jackson and a Solar. They are all awesome but I definitely like the 26.5" scale a bit more because I prefer 9-54s and have big hands.

Shreddy McGuire

I'm waiting for restock for my omen Elite 7, will be my first. Feel free to give input if I should pick something else 😅

Anders

I've had a 7-string version of this guitar in my sights for a bit, now (as my first 7-string)... can't wait to hear what your thoughts are on your 6-string version! Also, yeah, fixed bridges are my jam (and it ain't even close)... obvi, not shittin' on anyone who prefers tremolo/vibrato/whammy/floating bridge, but for what I do and how I play, fixed bridges all day, e'ery day.

Daniel Ward

that's a great question, I'll cover that in the video!

Ben Eller

I have 4 seven strings now.. it seems to be my preferred platform.

Shreddy McGuire

I like Floyd's for everything but yeah doublestop bends you can hear the original note go flat etc. But that's part of the charm!

Shreddy McGuire

now where di I hide that extra 3K ?..... hmm ... well crap!

David Brent

Hey man the ears like what they like! I know some dudes who hate tracking rhythms on Floyd guitars, but I love it.

Ben Eller

Q: do strings bend noticeably easier with a fixed bridge??

Gregg B.

(There is no edit on this thing, didn't mean to submit) Maybe give them another chance when you get close to something nice with an Evertune. I swear my LTD EC-1000 is one of the best guitars I've heard, but I'm just an amateur.

CapnCarl

Didn't like their original guitar player permanently damage his neck going bananas? What a banger group

Shreddy McGuire

If you have it set up to allow notes to bend (the not will only go sharp and will never go flat), I guess you should get that same effect. The wood being removed is probably comparable to a Floyd Rose bridge.

CapnCarl

Can't go wrong with a Keith Merrow sig axe.

Eric James

I think they don’t sound good. There’s so much wood routed out and all that machinery, I feel like it takes away from the sound. And I really miss the “MWAAAAaaaaa….” sound of a string going sharp and descending in pitch when it’s hit hard, just as nature intended a string to do! That’s an integral part of the sound of the guitar, and it’s gone with the EverTune. Would I want a guitar that literally cannot go out of tune if I was playing live flippin out with Dillinger Escape Plan, tho? YES, EverTune me up!!!!

Ben Eller

People say they are finicky to set up but I didn't have any problem. I just checked the string tensions in d standard/drop G and then set it up

Shreddy McGuire

Why have a fixed bridge when you can have at least 5 Floyd rose guitars in different tunings? :P

NYCM&AHole

What's the downside?

CapnCarl

I have a LTD EC-1000 with an Evertune and a Solar E1.6 with it. They are rock solid in tune all the time.

CapnCarl

I calls that the “NeverUse” hahaha…. Not for me. There’s a time and a place for it, for sure, I just don’t live in that space.

Ben Eller

I currently whammy like a stepdad too, but I like the tuning stability on Floyd's.. Maybe Uncle Ben can do a whammy bar video

Shreddy McGuire

I just got one on a Solar and it's great

Shreddy McGuire

OOOOF

Ben Eller

You know how much I love my Suhr gear!!! Perfect guitars. So far…. This is right up there with them. But meaner. Hahaha

Ben Eller

Have you ever played an Evertune bridge?

CapnCarl

But, where's the 7th string?

Anders

You can switch out all the Bigsbys for a fixed tailpiece. The Cadillac Tailpiece is an example, but I'm not sure if those are made by Bigsby.

Ean Wright

Beautiful! I’ve always preferred fixed bridges because I whammy like a step dad. Can’t wait for the video.

Ashwin Sridharan

I gotta meet that machine uncle

Joe McKenna

Congrats on the new machine! Looks stunning! But in all honesty, for that price, I'd rather get a Suhr.

Shahar Bar

Floyd Rose and Joe Satriani designed a locking hardtail for the Ibanez JS2000.

Ean Wright

Yeah I could change mine out, but they're still decent for Schecter brand actives.

danny cabrera

I used to love Tremolo bridges, and then I realized they don't suit my needs. I love me a good string-through or hard tail bridge. Just give me something that keeps tuning stability /consistently/, man!

Samuel Brockmann

Me too. I threw some Fishman Fluence actives in mine, and added some Tone Ninja Locking tuners.

Samuel Brockmann

Wow, that's a beautiful guitar. I haven't played a schecter of such quality before.

Kevin Fairless

I always prefer hardtails. I never use tremolos or whammy bar tricks so a good hardtail is my thing. This is my biggest gripe with Gretsch right now, all their top end models have Bigsbys. This guitar is a killer with that fixed bridge.

Matthew Briggs

I love my 7 string Schecter.

danny cabrera

art knows no bounds ramadansteve.

Dollar Store Rock Star

Fun fact...Tom Anderson started out working for Dave Schecter in '77. They've been around a lot longer than most people think and have always made killer guitars despite their brand not being as strong as some of the other household names. Now I'll take a Tom Anderson anyway over a Schecter personally but Schecter makes a good gitfiddle.

Dollar Store Rock Star

Just got myself a km7 mkIII hybrid last week, and I'm blown away..can't imagine how ridiculous USA model would be. meet the machine be dope!

Paul K.

I used to have the km7 signature (not pro) most comfortable and playable neck with the grain texture. Can't wait to see if this one is the same

Tyler James Kronberger

Only thing good about a fixed neck is down changing tunings often

Chadwick Mumpower

Nothing beats Schecter. I've owned many. My latest is the C1 hybred Hellraiser sustainiac

Chadwick Mumpower

Looks amazing. 👍👀 Have fun. 😁

Marcoroni

just made a sound not unlike that which one might make when they sit on one of their balls
