WW364: Bach and Forth!

Scale relays!!! What are they, and how can we strategically use them to SHRED?! You're about to find out!

This is such a cool trick to use with your 3 note per string playing. Memorize three simple scale relays + an easy formula, and you'll ALWAYS have an easy phrasing option to rip and land on your feet every single time! Its foolproof!!!

Really enjoyed making this video. Grab all the goodies below and shred with me!

Also, stay tuned for a special bonus video later today showing you how to use relays to learn scales better than you ever have!

Hit me with any questions you've got! Glad to help. Have fun!

9:45 Wouldn't that last mode also qualify as a chunk of the harmonic major scale? I'm more familiar with that one than the melodic minor

and I guess the last grouping he raises the 6th back up and the 7th back up to the 13th fret.... gives more of a major feel on the 1st half of the run.

e harmonic minor I think in the second grouping when he hits that 13th fret on the D string. I think all the other groupings are e minor.

Uncle Ben...or anyone that's more smarter than I am with theory...this is probably a phenomenally stupid question, but you mention that it's a fragment of an E minor scale, which I get in terms of notes/intervals. But given where you're playing it...is it also a fragment of G flat/F sharp Locrian? bear in mind...forget home schooling, i have NO schooling in theory....hehehe.

I love hearing these kind of runs, they're awesome. I'd love a theory-centric video going through what defines the Neoclassical style as a whole- typical key choices, common themes and melodic progressions etc. Thanks for all your hard work Uncle Ben
