Brian May and the POWER of the PREBEND!

Hey y'all!

Ever wondered what makes Brian May's Bohemian Rhapsody solo SOAR, SING, and SCREAM!?! Its the power of the prebend! There are SO many notes in this solo that aren't simply fretted, but blindly bent up before being picked. But why??? Thats what we're gonna talk about today! The third reason is one nobody ever seems to talk about, but it makes all the difference in the world. Get into it!

TAB for my transcription is included below. You'll notice i've tabbed out a few parts in different positions than what i've showed in the video, but trust the TAB! I did a little investigating before writing it out, and found these to be the correct positions based on how he's played it in the past. Dig it!!!

Bonus video is coming in a few, stay tuned! Its a winner!

Cheers, y'all!

Adding tension to the string was an insight! That had never occurred to me, I had always done pre-bends (reverse bends) but NEVER pre-bent a note to get more tension.

Phenomenal gift. Danke. To include the milk carton ref; the wife put the kabosh on my practice so now I have to wake up at o’dark thirty to get in some practice…which only makes me happy.
