The MAGIC Hidden Inside a SINGLE NOTE!

Hey guys!

Here's a rad theory-based video for you all! A lot of your favorite songs have one thing in common: the use of common tones being used against a set of moving chords! I'm gonna explain how it works to you all using examples from White Lion, Queens of the Stone Age, Yes, and MORE to help you get this trick down and make it a part of your music!

What theory topics would you like to see covered next? Let me know!

Terrific lesson! I’m always so impressed by your playing and delivery. What did you say your sound was routed through?

Chuck Saeger

I picked up on this in the early 90's listening to "The Drowners" by Suede (I'm a brit pop nerd) and when the last chorus comes in, there's a single note on a synth that continues till the end of the song. Gives the song a huge lift. Still use that trick to this day on some of my songs... but this lesson helped me understand it even more. Thank you!
