Hey, DM, can I have an uncommon Wondrous Item for my character? I want this summoning ring. It’s not gamebreaking or anything.
MMS
Um… maybe? Why, what’s your character concept?
Trish
Oh, it’s super cool. I really maxed out Wisdom and Intelligence with this guy. He’s a Variant Human with the Observant feat and Expertise in Perception and Investigation.
MMS
Nothing’s getting past this guy.
Trish
Exactly.
MMS
Still mad about our character falling off a cliff because we failed a Perception roll, are we?
Trish
You could’ve at least told me whether the character had survived right away instead of being all cyptic ab— whatever, moving on.
MMS
Hey, I’m not the one who chose to wrassle a guy on the edge of a waterfall.
Trish
MOVING ON, I picked Inquisitive Rogue, but I also multiclassed a little into Monk so my guy’s good at hand-to-hand combat.
MMS
You’re sure locking in on Perception stuff here.
Trish
Yeah, he’s really really perceptive. Like, he walks into a room and immediately homes in on relevant details.
