So, I’m going pretty basic this time. Human Mastermind Rogue.
MMS
Yeah, that’s pretty basic. High DEX, I assume?
Trish
Actually, I’m leaning into Charisma for this one. I got the Charlatan background, see — my guy used to be a professional con man.
MMS
Okay, interesting. “Used to be”? Has he gone straight?
Trish
Well, not by choice. Basically, through a sequence of wacky shenanigans, he has to pretend now that instead of a Rogue, he’s a Cleric, priest of a messenger god.
MMS
Like Hermes?
Trish
Kinda, yeah. There’s some more esoteric gods he quote-unquote “worships”, too, but the messenger god’s the main one.
MMS
Wait, how’d he go from being a regular charlatan to being a fake Cleric?
Trish
Long story. See, back home, his grandfather raised dogs…
[later]
Trish
…and as he uttered one final prayer, the hangman pulled the lever, and the floor dropped away… and then…
MMS
Yeah? What?
Trish
…an angel appeared.
[pause]
MMS
…I really hoped you weren’t gonna do this again.
Trish
See, I gave you that greatest of all treasures, which is Hope.
MMS
I’m too mad to be impressed. But I’m also too impressed to be mad.
