Barbie (2023) | ClaudieTV

"I'm a Barbie girl... In a Barbie world..."

It's Barbie time!

Such a fun movie, with really good meaning lying underneath!

Plus it was just something a little bit different for me, and I haven't sat and watched a movie for a long time... Well, since Klaus!

Get ready for, giggling, squeaking, a bit of yelling, and crying... twice.

Oh and a lot of pink.

I'm the exact same, never liked dolls or barbies, more a teddy bear and lego and sports sort of girl and I adored this movie. I thought it was very very good!

I’ve always been into “boys’ toys” more – cars, skateboards, that kind of thing. (Which is actually why I’d never watched it till now, haha. I just thought it wouldn’t be my thing since I never played with Barbies.) But wow, I loved this film. Solid 10/10. It’s so well written, directed, and perfectly balanced. Made me laugh, think, and even tear up a bit at the end. Greta Gerwig absolutely nailed it.

1) first of all, i LOVE the fact u dressed up in pink since it’s what most of the girls did when the movie came out. personally, my two friends and me dressed up having a pink element in our outfits and we saw a lot of other women and kids did the same going to the cinema. it was SO much fun, heheh. just loved that. 2) an interesting detail among the other ones u have already voiced while reacting is that: “The "Barbie" movie may subtly reference the Bratz dolls, particularly through the character Sasha and her friends, who are named "Junior High Friends". A popular TikTok theory suggests that these four girls are a sly reference to the Bratz characters Sasha, Yasmin, Jade, and Cloe.  Bratz was a rival to Barbie during the early 2000s, and many fans see this movie reference as a playful nod to that rivalry.” i’ve never had a Bratz doll but some of my friends did and tbh i never liked how those dolls looked. so seams like the “rivalry” between Barbie and Bratz dolls were a real thing, it was an another interesting detail they included in the movie. loved that too. 3) and lastly, how i felt about the movie. u know, i have been a “barbie girl” since my childhood. played with barbie dolls, played with my girl friends together, and ofc – have seen almost every barbie cartoon. there are around 20 of them. so i was a bit anxious how this movie was gonna make me feel. well, they didn’t depict Barbie like from the cartoons (which i kinda wanted to see. *that* Barbie i always loved as a real human being, uk), but they showed smth that i recognised. smth that touched my heart – representation of being a kid and playing with ur Barbie doll. almost like in Toy Story that u mentioned (MAN i loved that series. i need to rewatch them some day. really gave me this sense of childhood, being a kid and playing with ur toys, learning to *respect* them even tho they are not real. [lowkey they are to kids. so this matters]) and ofc i cried too. for a few times, actually. i loved the fact that they included the actress from My Mad Fat Diary (she played a main role in the series. Jodie Comer also played there, that one from Killing Eve series. i watched MMFD bcz of her and ended up loving that series). so a lot of familiar faces, a lot of talent was included into the production of the movie – that was the most incredible part about the movie. what a nice ride. thanks for reacting 🫶🏻, as always. take care 💖
