Yes, it isn't like he was an innocent lamb to the slaughter but if a lamb could be intelligent and tricked, we have one. It's not about who was wrong or right. In this instance, Sam is taking the blame and everyone else is taking the... wait --- no, they're not taking the blame for their actions.

And the cool thing is that normally Sam connects with angsty teens and the elderly ( likely cos he is very polite and respectful haha); Dean connects with children both dude to raising one ( ahem Sam ) and his personality tending toward uh... younger? Immature? Your pick haha. I suppose a mature!kid with forces acting upon him beyond his control fits Sam wayyyy better than your average child. And as the last commenter mentions, it suck Castiel is so horrible in this episode but hey, everyone can be a prick sometimes. I think he's just still in denial about the fact Sam is not the sole cause of the apocalypse. It's easy to have a scapegoat-- easier when the scapegoat is as broken as Sam. Oh and man! I love the idea of this virgin birth being dark and dangerous yet it's mostly about the power? Jesse doesn't seem naturally evil at all. Loved the little actor dude.

At the end of the day, it's Sam's fault even if he was either the second/tenth domino or simply being tricked/used/mistreated into making choices. That said, I think Castiel can be a loveable character even as he is cruel and oblivious to his own fuck-ups. It's unfortunate only Sam acknowledges his flaws at this point in time.

2019-09-27 17:06:24 +0000 UTCThere is a part of this episode that pisses me off. When Sam says we should tell Jessie the truth and give him the chance to make the right choice, Castiel throws back in his face that he didn’t. Sam and Dean should have decked him and told him off. Sam was never told the truth. Castiel, other angels even Chuck told both Sam and Dean that they had to stop Lilith. And at one post net or another they knew the truth and didn’t tell Sam and that includes the lying, manipulative hypocrite Castiel. I hated him for it.
