2019-03-18 04:56:36 +0000 UTCDean's problem is that due to his degree of self-loathing/low self-esteem, it ironically has the opposite effect he intended. Instead of putting Sam above himself, he puts his own needs first -- just so happens that his need isn't a traditional one; it's keeping Sam beside him. The same bad habit springs any time Sam seeks a healthy distance such as college, living a "normal" life. I have a feeling Dean recognizes his selfishness tbh, but he's justifying it with he deserves to do this on the basis of how much he's given. It's a twisted way of being selfish and genuinely sad. Just glad Sam knows Dean too well to fall for the martrydom, devil-may-care attitude. As much as I love Dean, he needs a kick in the ass p often early in the series.

I think. He's worn glasses off and on over the years. And since the surgery too, although very rarely.

2019-03-09 11:24:11 +0000 UTCNot everyone likes this episode. I thought it was okay, but it still didn't get us anywhere productive with the main story for this season, and that frustrated me. But I did like seeing Bella again. It is nice having other re-accuring characters for Sam and Dean to play with. It adds to the show, I think. So it was nice and fresh. But I was still wanting to get on with what was happening. All the demons. And Dean's Deal. But at least they're talking about it. Gotta love/hate that Bella though. I think it's a good mix having her with the boys - I like the by play between them. They really shouldn't fall for her crap, yet they do. Good learning lesson for them. I wonder if the producers did it to see if there was enough chemistry between Bella and Dean to make them an "item". The ending was the most important part - the discussion between the boys. I'm a Dean fan, so I tend to come to his defense when people don't like something about him. I try to be objective, but it's hard. Because I feel like I know him. Know why he does what he does. Yes, it is not right how he sometimes treats Sam, but he would also give his life for Sam. It's obvious that he values Sam's life more than his own. And I'm sure that Sam feels the same way. But, I'm not sure that Dean knows that. Dean knows that Sam is able to be on his own. Away from the family. And be okay. Dean can't. He's said that. He can't imagine being without his family. He doesn't want to. That's why he's thinking Sam would be okay. But it is also selfish of Dean. And I think he's finally seeing that. But he really wasn't thinking about that when he made the deal. He was desperate. I could go on, but I've already written a book. But you have a good point. It does seem like Dean is in denial. But I actually do think that he likely figured he'd be going to Hell anyway when he dies, and that somehow made it okay for him. I don't know. ugh!

And I really liked the history and story of the two brothers where one killed the other, and the lore of the ghost ship appearing to those who killed a family member just before they then are killed. I can't stand how Dean is acting towards Sam and how he's in denial though. I feel so bad for Sam. Thank you for another fun reaction! I look forward to your reaction to the next episode. Until then...
