I've always loved this one, I'm sorry it wasn't one you really enjoyed. We get so much information about Crossroads Demons and all the info regarding John - although I suppose it would be pretty hard to convey all of that without a bunch of expositional dialogue. While I totally agree with you about John sacrificing himself being the best choice, I can't imagine the effect carrying that weight would have on an emotionally healthy person, much less on Dean who feels guilty for pretty much any and everything that has ever gone wrong. I just find the whole situation heartbreaking. A little fun fact for you: Jensen recently told a story of kicking down a hotel room door and said that kicking doors down so often on the show has really given him some useful life skills. Here's a youtube of it (completely spoiler free) https://youtu.be/jwtV2RLPLuE Happy New Year XXOO

I really like this episode. I'm a boring person, and so I'm a sucker for these "boring" episodes. I like watching the process they go through figuring stuff out. The show does mix things up, so some episodes like this and some more active. Some major information about John and lore in this one. And some more character stuff. I tend to like that sort of stuff. I like eps with more action too. I got really engrossed in the scene between Dean and the demon. That's the first time we've had anything like that with a demon. I was interested in seeing what Dean would decide to do - was he just playing along with the demon, tricking it into thinking he was actually considering the Deal, or was he actually considering the Deal. But he had a Job to do, so that would have won out regardless, I think. So far, we've seen that the Winchester's have a hard time letting go when someone dies. John with Mary's death, Sam with Jess's death, John and Sam with Dean's eminent death - thus the Deal. And Sam and Dean with John's death. Not a good pattern. This is also another episode that's based on real life. There actually was that singer who sang about making a Crossroads Deal. Those are his actual songs we heard and the story Dean told is the actual story. Just a bit of interesting history. Just like with the episode that Jo helped them with. Based on real life. The next ep is the mid-season final, I believe. But there was a 2 week gap, I think between this one and the next ep. You may want to prepare to watch 2 episodes at one sitting for the next time you sit down to record. But waiting a week would be a good way to show solidarity to your viewers you had to wait. ;D
