Supernatural Season 2 Episode 3 UN-CUT REACTION!

i love how different this episode was! so good.

Gosh, there's so much I wanna say about this episode but most vrushes spoiler territory so, instead, I'll just say that I loveeeee how Dean and Sam contrast. In particular, Sam didn't seem shocked that Dean struck out at him and refused to return the favor even given a "Get out of Jail" card. The funny thing is Sam easily sees through every front Dean puts forth; while Dean may not readily share with him, he's soooo transparent he might as well be.

This episode, for me, has always been one of the stand-outs of season 2. I think you'll like this season even more than S1, because the story continues to evolve and build and you get to see more of the different dynamics between the brothers and how their relationship develops the more they're on the road together, not to mention some interaction with some very interesting characters. I absolutely love seeing your reactions and hearing your thoughts on what's happening throughout the episodes. So glad to be on this SPN journey with you! Oh, and as for Baby, that car goes through a lot, too, but she's definitely like another character in the show. She's "home" for Sam and Dean, and just like they get beat up and manage to survive, she does the same. Dean just rebuilt her body and dropped a new engine and parts. Dean is the Baby doctor. lol Fun fact: The assistant in the Sheriff's office that interrupts him during his meeting with Sam and Dean in the beginning of this episode is Jensen's real life sister Mackenzie. One of the many things that Jared and Jensen found they had in common upon first meeting was that they're not only both Texas born boys, but they're also both the second born in families with 3 children, both having an older brother and a younger sister. :)

This is a really good episode, in my opinion. I also liked how things were switched. The Bad Guy was a human and not the vampire this time. This goes against everything they've been taught, though. Sam does look older this season. Even though he still looks like a puppy much of the time. A hunters life will do that to you, I guess. He's had to grow up a lot, though. And now their dad is dead, it's bound to speed up. For both of them. Because, even though John was absent for most of the previous year, he was still "there". A presence in their lives that they expected to reunite with and continue hunting. With him as the leader, making all the hard decisions. That's gone. It's ALL up to the two of them now. On their own. The car is back in tip top shape because Dean is a wizard with mechanical stuff, that's how he fixed the car. Probably has some magic mechanical tools or something. Just like the special cream they use to heal lacerations to the face overnnight, without any scaring. lol It may seem weird that Dean doesn't tell Sam how he's feeling, the way he told Gordon, the other Hunter. But I get it. I may not explain my thinking very well, but I'll try: Sam's always been the younger brother that Dean protects. Dean would have been the one comforting Sam - well, as best he knew how. He wouldn't have been talking out his troubles on little Sam, who would have been too young and it wouldn't have been right to confide things like that to such a young child. That's what older siblings and parents are for. So, Dean just never saw that as something to do. And John wasn't there to talk to. He wasn't there for that sort of thing at all. So it just became natural for Dean to not confide in people much. Not that he's doing it on purpose, just doesn't really know any different. Hard to explain, but I hope you get the gist. And it would have stayed that way, up until Sam left for college. Now that they're back, it's just ingrained. He still feels the need to be the strong, older brother. The one Sam can count on and look for strength. Looking at Sam as a source of strength and a shoulder to lean on is just not in his world view right now. Yep. Our little boys are having to grow up fast. John is not around to provide that constant influence anymore. It will still linger, it's ingrained, but it's weakening. The time Sam and Dean were hunting together away from their dad last season got that severing of the influence started. You had really good points about how the boys balance each other. They make a good team. This episode did seem to be more of a morality episode than anything else. It also was strong on character development, I though.

Yep. It's a whole new season. I love Season 2. So much character and story development, and world growth. The training wheels have come off.
