Supernatural Season 1 Episode 14 UN-CUT REACTION!

One of my favorite parts of this episode is when Dean eats the little sausages. That part was not in the script. They were not even properly prepared to be consumed. Jensen decided during filming to eat them as a little joke. (He has told that story at SPN conventions. He said they tasted terrible). This show is full of improv moments like this. The writers, directors, cast and crew all enjoy adding improv bits here and there. Up to and including full on practical jokes during filming. Some of these add-ins work well with the story and are left in the episode. I really enjoy re-watching episodes like this knowing about the unscripted parts. Those of us that have seen enough seasons will understand how some of the improv ends up adding a lot of value overall. I think allowing the actors and crew the room to add to the story is one of the many reasons I enjoy this show so much.

I ditto everything Kirsty-Louise said. I've been looking forward to you getting to this episode. You already really like this show, but this episode is where it really starts kicking up steam - so I expected you to react just like you did. Awesome! I'll add a bit to what Kirsty-Louise said. I think Dean also doesn't want to believe that Sam is psychic. I think it is throwing him off. They deal with supernatural things all the time, but they are typically ghosts or monsters, or other evil things. Not actual humans. It's usually more black and white than it would be for a human. We saw this when Sam and Dean were talking about what to do regarding Max. Can't just kill him - he's human. But also can't just let him keep killing people. Max is not really an evil supernatural creature. Life has just gotten harder for the boys, and now we have to see how they deal with that. Add to all of that - Sam is going through something and Dean is his big brother. Supposed to protect his little brother. How does he do that now? They've been taught by their dad that Supernatural things are bad. Evil. Well, Sam seems to have supernatural powers. Will he turn evil? Does it make him evil? How does Dean protect Sam from this? On a lighter note - we got to see another of Dean's home-made gadgets. The infrared thingy ma gig. The boy's got skills. Sam's the bookworm smarty, and Dean's the mechanical smarty. And an even lighter note - Sammy was looking super cute as a priest. All it took was cleaning up the hair. And I think Jared (Sam) is still growing! Sheesh. Jensen is 6'1" - so what does that make Jared. About 6'6"?

Definitely one of the strongest episodes of the season. Also my favourite reaction of yours so far, I loved how genuinely surprised you were on several occasions. Oh Sammy. My heart really goes out for him during this episode, he is so happy to find out that Max is just like him right down to his mother dying in his nursery as a baby but then also feels scared about what this all means which I think is amplified when it is made clear that Max was too far gone and couldn't be saved. As for Dean, I'm not sure that it was about not believing Sam at first, I think his first instinct is to always try and protect his brother so he was trying to reassure him that everything is ok and it's probably nothing which he continues to do throughout the episode by claiming to Sam that he isn't worried at all which I don't believe for a second is true. I especially loved Dean at the end telling Sam that he has him and as long as he's around, nothing bad will happen to him. Such a sweet moment. Also, I'm pretty sure that everyone in the Supernatural fandom can relate to telling the show how much you hate it at certain moments, I know that I can! Haha.
